We can be scary good if the assists go up. I can many times when we had an open guy ready to shoot and we either turned the ball over or took an ill-advised shot. If we pass the ball that opens a lot more weapons to take pressure off the big 3.

"The Redbirds have six, potentially outstanding players on this year’s team. When you add to that mix three other players, William Tinsley, Taylor Burning and Matt Hein who made multiple starts last season, you obviously see the 2018-19 team could be scary good."

Yeah, that Taylor Burning guy could be a monster this year, yet nobody talks about him.

Matt Hein could be a monster? Clearly no clue what they are talking about and article is now invalid.

The void we have is inside/paint depth. Now, just recently a couple of guys who
R in the know tell me Rey is looking really good. If that's a reality and Rey doesn't
have too many Frosh type moments - it'll b such a strong club.

Pray for great health all year.

I don't see that mentioned or implied in the article.

Got it, when I get the feeling that someone is going after my boy Hein, the gloves immediately come off. :D

Where does it say anything about Hein being a monster? It says when you add the top six to guys who have a lot of experience, then we could be good.

I wish we could fast forward to November. I'm ready for some hoops. This article stated a lot of things we already know. I saw Milik recently and I think fans will be surprised with his build. He looks thinner. Not that he was doughy or anything, he was a hard 230 last year. He looks like he's dropped 5-10lbs. Taylor is still in the boot. Chastain's knee looks good. Rey has the ability to hit a 3 ball, he probably won't use that ability for a long time (if ever). Phil has improved his 15 footer, which should make his drives to the bucket easier. Keyshawn's most noticeable difference is it seems his ball handling has improved. Boogie is going to take another step defensively and likely be a 40+% 3pt guy. Dedric Boyd and Josh Jefferson are bigger than you think, they are thick guards! Keep the comparisons with Phil Fayne and Keith Fisher coming- they are VERY fair. Fisher is a more physical, thicker Fayne.

Now with EC gone I gotta feeling Matt will once again get a bunch of playing time and most likely exceed my expectations. If he makes another big improvement he'll be a solid bench player this year. Love him or hate him I'm pretty sure nobody will argue about the kid's work ethic.

In that article the coach sounded like he expects a solid contribution from Matt Chastain, and yet the kid isn't even on scholarship. Kinda feel sorry for him. Seems like he's getting ripped off. I think it's been said that his injury concerns might have been the reason he's a walk on this year, but the talent seems like it's there for him. Hope he has a healthy year. We'll need him. I kinda see him as an inside player, where Tinsley is an outside guy. It will be nice combo that the coach can switch back and forth from depending on what's needed.

Didn't Milik get down to like 210 at the beginning of last year? Then he seemed to put the weight back on.

We have no idea what Copeland, Jefferson, Chastain and Rey are going to be able to bring to this team. If they play at the level that they have been touted, ISU may win 16+ Valley games and go into StL with 25+ wins.

Coach does expect big things from Chastain. Don't feel too bad about the scholarship though for two reasons; First, when Chas left Loyola, he knew he was not going to be on scholarship here, but had the chance to earn one if it was availible. I'd bet he is on scholarship in 19-20 season. Second, remember when we recruited him out of high school and he chose Loyola? He had the chance then to get his scholarship and left it on the table.

Need some ballhandlers and some playmakers beyond Malik. If Copeland and Jefferson add that dynamic to the team I don’t see how other Valley teams could stop us.

Defensively still a lot to prove. We were carved up by Dunk City, BYU and Ole Miss last year. If the on-ball defense isn’t much better on the perimeter then there will be a lot more pressure on offense.
