Thought I would start a thread for those who seam to have a man crush on the Ramblers. You can now have your own thread to slobber all over Loyola and tell each other how great and dominating they are going to be in 2018-19 and all the season going forward.

I actually think ISU will be better than them. All of the Illinois Valley teams have improved year over year. I think ISU, Loyola, SIU and even Bradley are all 20+ game winners this year and top 75 teams.

I think ISU will have more overall talent, but Loyola will have a better team to start the year. If ISU comes together and plays like a team, like they mostly did to end last year, I'm not sure there will be a lot of teams in the Valley that could stop them.

I just find it funny that we all automatically think we will be better than a Final Four team who returns the league FOY and MVP. If we were returning Paris Lee and someone said they would be better than us we'd all laugh at them.

But hey, let the kool aid flow free!

I guess we will know in March. But for now, I’m sticking with my Redbirds, and the confidence I have in Fayne, Yarbrough, Evans, Boogie, Copeland, and the incoming recruits that will push these five in practice every day.

What I do know about Loyola is they lost 3 of their top 6 players from their team. How deep will their bench be. How will they handle it if they have injury problems like we had last year? They had zero injuries in conference play this past season.

No one knows that answer. But they made the Final Four last season, so give them a little credit moving forward. There's a good chance most people outside of ISU will be picking Loyola to win again next year. If that upsets you then the kool-aid is too strong.

If you're refering to me, I am not upset about anyone picking Loyola. I'm just saying that I think Illinois State will be a better team than Loyola in 2018-19. That is not saying that I don't think Loyola will be a good team. I do think they will be good, and I am hoping they will be good. Just like I am hoping Southern Illinois will be good, and Bradley will be good, and was hoping that Joe Burton would have been back with Valparaiso and they would have been really good. It is good for the Valley when we have multiple good teams in the conference. So If you feel that Loyola is going to be better than Illinois State, not going to upset me. I like the 16 guys on the Redbird roster more than I like whoever is on Loyola's roster.

Our Redbird depth for 2018-2019 may be the best in the Valley, but keep in mind that two freshmen post players will be given baptism by fire. I suppose that’s a good thing if they are both ready for the conference season and conference tournament. I see shot alteration, blocks, rebounds, and defense as more important contributions from Abdou and Rey than points scored.
