Guess the coaching staff couldn’t get him on the same page. Did find it interesting that Mosely said something about focusing on coaching the 13 guys that wanted to be there. Uncoachable? That never translates well.
You used the phrase, "wanted to be there."
Mosley said, "I'm going to focus on the 13 guys who are still on my team.”
He is just saying Payton is not on the team anymore therefore it would be wasted efforts to spend time worrying about him. Not that Payton didn't "want" to be there as you suggest.
Not sticking up for Payton, just want to be fair to what was said.

Sorry misquote. Was going off the top of my head. Didn’t have the article in front of me. But don’t you think if he “wanted” to be there he would still be on the team?
Not necessarily. I bet Bryant Allen and Geoffrey Allen still wanted to be on the team. I bet Teddy Hawkins' never "wanted" to be sent home from Spain. Things just don't work out. To your point, if he wanted to be on the team, perhaps he would have taken the steps necessary to not get kicked off. It's possible he thought, "I'm a D1 player and can do whatever I want and still be on the team." Mosley probably didn't agree.4thRowRedbird wrote: ↑Fri Feb 08, 2019 1:39 pmSorry misquote. Very possible. It seems like such an odd time to just quit. I know there has been issues all year, but didn’t think he would ever just say nope I’m done. Especially on a team that has state potential. Good on Mosely if that’s the case. Heard nothing but positive things about him as a coach and as a man.

For me, comments weren't available when I went to the article via the link. Comments were there when I went to Panty site and navigated to article.
Comments basically telling CP to grow up, fix the attitude, and quit getting high.
