Idk about you guys but seeing all those players in street clothes on the bench makes me so mad
I have beat that drum before about not having enough available players. Makes sense if you are in totally rebuild mode but not when you think you have an NCAA tournament worthy team.
The upside is they will all be in uniform next year and we will get to make the excuse for the first 20 games about how they are adjusting because they sat out for a year.

Evans... I don't know what is won't with him but he should not dress for a few games if he is banged up. This Evans is really bad.

I would rather have good players sitting out than 5 more marginal talents eligible for play. Time will tell if the strategy is worthwhile.

I think Dan rolled the dice with Ndaiye and lost. Even tho a frosh, still a taller body. Maybe we beat Chicago State by 8 instead of 4.

I get it. It just would be nice if we had more options THIS year. My own selfish reasons. There's talent in those street clothes and we need it now...

But is there? We thought that with this group. Maybe dan is just bad at recognizing talent and they dont really have it. I have no confidence in him going forward. I mean 2 of the guys he's counting on going forward were 2 of the best players on a mountain west tea that had 4 wins.

I really liked the effort,. 11 games in, we just don't have the talent but I am hoping we can learn to play smarter. I see it at times, but then at other times not so much.

MVC is still there to take. It is really a down year in the Valley. Let's beat Cleveland State, play hard at UCF and head to Valpo and pull one out before coming home for 2 very winnable games.

We played HARD. I was pleased with the effort after the last few games. Ole Miss is a good team with an excellent coach. We had 5 players in double figures but only got 7 points from tinsley and Key. If Key is truly hurting then rest him until conference if necessary. We know he can play but something wrong when he’s 1/8 from the floor. Start Copeland and Jefferson. Start Gassman if necessary even. He at least scraps as hard as he can though not enough athleticism. Hope Chastain gets healthy enough to give solid minutes. Anyhow not nearly as
Down on this team as I was 4 days ago

Gassman missed at least 4 layups

2 layups and a couple of short jumpers but he battled. Doesn’t have the talent but has heart. The guy he replaced had two dunks and two rebounds.

But it doesn't have to been one or the other. How about having a couple more talented players available this year?

This is kind of my beef. I feel like this was the year we were supposed to go for it. Instead of taking advantage of two extremely talented players in, Phil and Yarbs, and instead I feel like we went all in for next year.

They better get some good judo players if they're going for it next season because this isn't a 20 win team this season or next season

Maybe he went for a couple and missed. So instead of taking some eligible stuffs, went this route instead.

We added Copeland, Jefferson, Chastain, and Rey to what was a Big 4 returning. Hard to predict the decline in Evans and Tinsley, and getting less from Copeland than many projected. I’m not sure Taylor or Hein would be the answer, and filling the roster with more like them and Gassman probably doesn’t get ISU to where most want us either.

What’s done is done. Maybe Dan regrets, and learns from it. This season has pretty low expectations now, but I think it’s more about Evans and Tinsley, than who is or isn’t eligible on those 5 roster spots in street clothes

His shot looks off. It is either coming up short or he is forcing it long. He looked like he was limping a bit and he just looks off all around. Maybe give him the week off of practice and see how he does next Saturday.

Other thoughts from the game:

--We need to move without the ball when we throw it in the post. Ole Miss doubled almost every time we got it to Phil or Yarbs on the post. No one came to help so we either through it away or forced a bad shot.

--Offensively we spend a lot of time dribbling around the perimeter and never really going to the basket.

--We looked our best defensively when we pressed. We may have a short bench, but I think it would be worth pressing more during the game.

-- I thought we rebounded better. Bad, but still better. At least we attacked the rebounds more.

--We should drive more and rely on the three less.

-- Copeland didnt look off after his injury.

-- Jefferson is a helluva player.

But we didnt address the gaps for this year. Defense and rebounding were the gaps we had last year, defense and rebounding are the gaps this year. That's my thing. I like the guys we brought in. I'm just saying we didnt address what was wrong from last year with the guys we targeted for this year.
