I still have nightmares when I stumbled on the EDUCATION DAY at an EIU game in Charleston. ISU was visiting EIU over the TGiving week and the basketball arena was packed to the gills....with screaming grade schoolers. The Birds lost by 30. Worse LOUD basketball I have ever attended.

December 20th will probably be the day when the roof pops.

Awesome post. I'm laughing just thinking about it.

But come to think of it - maybe they're on to something...

So 3000 expected on Thursday to the 11AM game against the Billikens.

So when I went to the EIU version of Education Day....they were close to capacity at 5400. I got to say this will be the greatest challenge for the Cheerleading team.

Watched the 4th quarter, nice win for the Birds. I like watching Coach G on the bench, well, she's not often "on" the bench, she's up, coaching, directing, etc. Looks in control.

Goods was a load today, 30 points, or maybe 31?

Wallen is a good add, she played a lot, Coach trusted her with inbounding down the stretch when the game was close.

Also answered one of my questions - TeTe Magett -- is pronounced Tee-Tee Ma-jit (like you were saying the word magic).

For anyone wondering how loud it was, my ears are still ringing. It was fun though to have all that energy in Redbird. During the first quarter every made Redbird basket sounded like we won on a last second shot. Most of the kids seemed to be having fun and I'm guessing some will go home and ask their parents to go back to a game. A very good event by Redbird Athletics.

Goods did what she does. They had some big girls she was going up against but she held her own. She missed more free throws than usual down the stretch so could have easily been close to 40 today.

Wallen has been a great add to this team. She works hard and has some skills.

TeTe is good. Nice to see her get the roll for the last second 3/4 shot at the end of the second quarter.

Paige looks like she will be rehabbing and back on the court soon. Luckily she won't have to come back at full speed right away.

That is five in a row at home for the Redbirds. If you haven't yet, I recommend coming on out seeing these ladies play. You won't be disappointed.

Glad the kids had great LOUD fun!!

I had an appt but if the day was free....EAR RINGING...would have been hard to deal with. I hope the next EDUCATION DAY at RA will be soldout. Could you just imagine THAT level of craziness?

Did anyone notice if the kids were mainly In-Town Schoolkids? I bet interest could easily be expanded by focusing on the conferences overlaying BloNo….like the HOIC schools.

Tnx for attending the game. I will get back to a women's bball game soon.

Side note: I’ve read more than one comment over time from folks who watched a Redbird Arena game on tv and said ISU fans don’t make any noise. I’ve been at those games and scratched my head because there WAS noise! Well, today like I said in an earlier comment it was LOUD! I’m now watching the tv replay. There is definitely sound/noise reduction technology in play with this telecast. The viewer hears RC and Kelly fine but 3000 kids SCREAMING is definitely filtered out! You guys on the east and west coasts are being cheated.

Just watched goredbirds recap of the game....from the kids....all I could hear were the really high squeaky screams. lol

Those Redbirds must have planned ahead on that first half ending 3 pointer....just to get that extra SCREAM PUSH heading into the locker room.

It was number 3 this morning when I was watching. They referred to her as TeTe Legit.

Now I know what you meant by your post! That was a crazy fun atmosphere. Those 3,000 kids were loud. It was fun just watching them have fun. What was that shark song they were singing? They should do that song for the adult games!

Oh JHBird. You don’t have small kids do you? Baby Shark is the craze sweeping toddlers and small children’s YouTube screens. I’ve heard it about a million times.

Yah, you got me on that one!!!!!
I suspected I was really in the dark on this one, especially when our cheerleaders knew the song. I still think we need it at the men's games! I probably have to brush up on the lyrics though...let's go hunting, you know it how it goes ...
