Redbird Football finished strong in the second round of recruit signings and got a lot better today.
Try to contain yourselves.

Which recruit sticks out for you? I watched some of the videos. The RB from Missouri looked like a good find. I wonder if he'll stay at RB. Seems like he should.

I was just looking through and comparing what we have in the 2019 thread and there are several letters not in yet.

The List so Far 2019 is updated. Remember it contains names from the first signing period in December and the one today.

For what it's worth Brian McLaughlin of Hero Sports will be on WJBC to talk about the Redbirds. He says the class is very impressive!

Well, I've always wished for getting the Illinois boys, but I'm gonna set that aside for now, this looks like a pretty impressive class. Wonder if our new coaching staff has anything to do with the more national recruiting - more ties farther away from home??

Yeah Mueller looks like a prime recruit but I've about given up trying to predict. We've seen walkons go on to the NFL and 3 star studs wash out. There's strength in numbers. If you bring in six RBs you might get two good ones and then two more that contribute as DBs, kick returners or slot receivers and then a couple that fall by the wayside. If you can tell which ones you're way smarter than me.

WJBC is having a signing day special from 4-6 p.m. tonight. They have McGlaughlin from HERO sports on now. He loves Jalen Carr. Spack is up after the 4:30 news (Probably 4:37 or so)

Keenan Hall at 5:10, Dick and Ted will be on at some point and Sam Herder from HERO will be on as well.

not sure this was entirely intended or not ... but clearly this class has a lot of skill players and smaller than usual. Recently, Spack has gone bigger at almost every position ... but this class bucks that trend. Might have realized he need more fast twitch guys to mix things up.

As college football continues to morph into a game of speed and air attack, getting great athletes and fast players at many positions is critical. This class sure seems to take that evolution into consideration.

It does seem that Spack recruits multiple players at the same position during the same recruiting year. How many linebackers did we bring in last year?

Spack mentioned on JBC that his goal, especially for Spring was to get as many skilled positions and as much speed as possible. It seems that's what he did. He also agree that ISU is becoming Running Back U and the word has gotten out of the successes of players as far back as Darelynn Dunn and as recent as James Robinson. We just gotta make sure to keep these new RBs in the program. I know Spack will want to take the bigger ones and make them LBs but I think there have been guys who left the team in the past for this reason.

Coach said that Muller kid was supposed to go to Kansas, but they got a new coach and who went in a different direction with their recruiting. So he fell into our lap. He said that Muller can run a 4.4 forty. So hell yeah! Also, that WR from Texas is a 3 star recruit who had some big school offers, but he waited too long to commit and those schools filled up. So he fell to us as well. Kinda the same deal with the RB from South Carolina. So give Brock some credit for keeping his powder dry to take advantage of opportunities at the deadline.
Another thing he mentioned. That LB transfer from New Mexico. We recruited him hard last year, but didn't get him. Not he's back with us and has 4 years of eligibility. Brock said that if had signed last year he'd of been our top recruit. Gotta love that! He said all of the transfers are on campus now and looking great too.

I've noticed same ... but especially with OL. Probably just trying to create cohesion and competition by bringing them all in together.

I agree. Just from the video I wouldn't of thought 4.4 either. Whatever freshman gets some playing time next year at RB will probably be a pretty special back here.

I might believe low 4.5's though ... word that came to mind watching him was "slippery fast. Somebody taught that kid how to run .. very natural runner.

FYI ... Tre was low 4.5's. Marshaun was high 4.4's.

I had a bet with somebody that Tre was faster than Marshaun ... I lost. Tre looked faster though.
