I am all for emailing Dr. Dietz. Heck, talk to him personally about your concerns if you see him. I have several times about our athletics and other U issues. He is a very forthright, honest guy.
Agreed. Very approachable and not your typical university president. Great guy. And if we truly want a change that would be a great start. We know athletics read this site but I cannot speak for the president or his office.

I would easily fall on the side that people need much thicker skin. I have been boo'ed before - makes me work harder to make sure I am right. Also, there are times, when I deserved to be boo'ed (not often), and there are other times if the people are not booing - means they DO NOT GIVE A DAMN - which is flat out apathy. Fans are all different just like coaches - there are coaches who work the sidelines hard and the players hard, there are those who rarely move from their seat, and then there are some in-between. Same with fans - there are all types. Generally, I look at the fans who do not get excited to cheer the team, voice their displease with a terrible call - as the fans who know nothing about the game and are just there to watch like a movie at home on the couch. Does not mean they are any better (which they are trying to portray themselves are high-and-mighty voicing either support or displease as "beneath" them). As a someone who has played, officiated, and coached - I would take passionate fans over the deadwood fans every time.

I booed Marshall a few years ago at the MVC tourney. Loudly.

And I have booed officiating a few times. Yeah, there is some irony there that is not lost on my wife and kids. I'll just say I know what that feels like.

That's about it. I would not boo my team, or the other team. I can yell a lot, though. I have kinda made a name for myself up there in TT :)

I couldn't agree with author more about the booing. Back in the day we had this PG by the name of Keith Richardson and everyone would boo the second he touched the ball. Completely uncalled for in my opinion.

There was a guy named Stephanovic that used to get boo'd every time he made a shot. Redbirdfans are so dumb.

Booing and heckling are just part of the game.

No booing at this game, unless you like defense.

I would like to see those "softest fans" stats. I have been to a lot of games in my life. Thousands. We are far, far from the softest. Of course, that is just my opinion. But I am sure the poster has the stats and facts to back that claim up.
All you need to do is hop on RBF and you can see that in about 3 seconds. Most of the posters just like to complain about whatever they can. #cryb****moan

You could at least tag me if you are going to call me out. I don’t think ISU fans are soft. The majority of fans want change and to win. The silent majority know it’s time for Lyons to go and clean house within the athletic department. I wish we could get a meeting together of ISU fans that want Lyons gone and changes made.
Is the silent majority similar to the moral majority . . . neither silent nor the majority?

If you're interested in a meeting, mayhap you should initiate the process . . .

So booing may be part of sports, but that doesn't mean everyone has to like it or think it's appropriate. Thinking it's inappropriate doesn't equate to "thin skin".

My eyes are opening to the power of booing. Next time I lay down $5 at the Bill's Barber Shop I best get a quality cut or Bill is gonna get his ass boo'd right out of of the building.

For $5 I wouldn't expect a quality cut.

For free education, I expect some sort of quality on the court.

I agree, some passion is better than being afraid to let others see you have emotion. What will they say at the mall or restaurants?

Maybe we should hand out ribbons for not participating...
