I will take Tinsley over Hein every day. Hein has zero upside potential. Tinsley can rebound and block shots. Hein can do neither and he cannot score nor does he get any assists. Tinsley has had games where he scored more points than Hein has had all season. I am very tired of people defending Hein. He is not good at basketball. Yes, he follows directions and that is it.
This is exactly the wrong way to think about this.

We have to stop analyzing potential and just analyze performance. If you don't perform over and over, then your potential is meaningless.
If performance is the factor; what is Evans doing the Court?
Because we have 4 players

He has so much talent. Sitting on the bench watching is the best medicine for him. I believe he will be back playing at a high level helping us win in St. Louis. Go Birds!

Many comments regarding Tinsley’s shortcomings and I believe in part they are all correct. When you watch him play at times you want to go out and kick him in the arse (figuratively) to get him to do something. Sits out on the wing way too much, doesn’t cut to the basket at the right time, does not make enough defensive stops, takes too many and seems to be only focused on shooting 3s, in the wrong place at the right time...etc. Unless he changes his mentality he is not going to be an asset and will continue to hurt ISU’s chances of winning when he plays. The above post is a good example of the lack of effort or wrong style of play that results in Tinsley not making plays/contribution. Muller either becomes successful and breaks Tinsley b-ball mentality and gets him to change in a manner that adds value or sitting Tinsley is the best thing for this ISU team. In the end it is up to Tinsley if he wants to be out on the court

Tinsley does not get injured, for the very reason he does not go hard to the hoop, is not a slasher, , does not go on a fast break , sits out on the wing, and is slow on defense, his shot does not miss good, its misses bad and clangs off about 8 ft from the basket.

Timmy yes I would say he does have talent. I believe he needs to learn that driving to the lane is his game not the 3. At the Loyola game last year he drove hard and missed throwing down a huge dunk. Even though he missed that gave him confidence. I think the new guys beating him out for minutes made him press and get out of his game. I will say that without him playing like we saw at the end of last year we will struggle to win that little tourney in St. Louis!!

i personally dont think driving to the lane is his game. i see him as a guy who, when he's on his game, keeps the defense honest by hitting a few 3's and then slashes to the hoop if a defender is over-playing. but like Key, i think it all starts by seeing a few shots fall to build confidence.

this is all focused on the offensive side. the lack of playing time may be equal parts offense and defense. its a fine line, but thats what we pay Muller to figure out.

Tinsley reminds me of Tony Wills! He isn’t flashy...but brings more to the table than to the eye! He can pull down a good amount of boards!

6 points 5 rebounds. Average defender maybe? That's who he is.

Seems a little late in his career to be figuring out what kind of player he needs to be. He has zero confidence in himself, which is visible by his body language. He needs to get his head together or he should continue to sit. Chastain is proving to be the opposite. Playing with passion and like he has something to prove.

OMG, you can’t be serious. Wills: glue guy, defensive scrapper who’d do whatever it takes. Decent driver to the bucket and good rebounder. Contributed solidly for four years. Had the total respect of his teammates. Tinsley: good shooter who has been in a slump for all but about six weeks of his career here. Defense is bad when his offense is bad. Decent rebounder at times but much more natural athleticism. Showing no leadership in his senior year. Seems like a nice guy but results matter.

Sorry to be hard on the guy, but this is an insulting comparison for Tony.

I think Tinsley has had his chances and did not produce on a consistent basis. Chastain is a nice improvement and I have no issue if Tinsley rides the bench the rest of his senior year.

I'm glad Chastain is coming on strong but I'd have no issue seeing Tinsley figure things out and get some floor time too.

Yep ... we should all hope for this along with Jefferson and Evans figuring out their shooting woes. Better offense, better depth, better team, which hopefully culminates into seniors ending their ISU career on a good note

The old saying of - "When the going gets tough, the tough get going."

Well, there is no question the going has been tough for Birds, who seem as a team, are starting to get it going. Now, it has been tough the entire year for Evans and Tinsley, along with Yarbrough at times, and now Jefferson. We will see who is tough enough to get going. The toughness in this case is much more mental than it is physical. MTXE.

There’s a difference between being athletic, and possessing great basketball talent.
