question for Quinn, at Sunday's game wife noticed band was very small, is that normal now?
I don't think so. Not sure why that would have been. Any idea @saxman210 ?

If I had to guess its because BRMM is not over yet. I think pep band kinda plumps up a bit after football season ends. Definitely after the first of the year when the new semester starts. I think it is usually that thin in the fall.

They are also relegated to a pie shaped section of seats now instead of the platform, so looks wise it is different

I also agree with the seating issue. I was fairly disappointed by how the Band is stuck in that section. Seems like they could have figured out something different or better. I don't know what it would be.. but from my view it is probably a lot harder to play in the pep band now.
The seating upgrade was a downgrade for the Band. IMO.

I loved playing in the seats in the late 90s when I was there. We look more organized in actual rows and of course my section was in the first two rows so I was right on the court. :D

Did the band mind that you were playing in their seats?

Team ball like we haven't seen for quite a few years. Almost like Loyola played the year they went to the final four.

Not going down the floor and chucking one up with 22 seconds left on the shot clock.

Boyd made a couple of big shots. I'm not afraid to see most of our guys take a shot.
I don't think we have anywhere even close to the guard play that Loyola team had. Maybe if this team makes it past St Louis then we can start making those comparisons ? I just don't see it YET... but you have seen a ton of basketball so who knows.
you're right, but I didn't say we were as good as Loyola, just that we played like them, unselfish, sharing the ball and looking for a shot. Not heaving up a shot with 20 seconds left on the shot clock. But give our point guard credit, he might be one of the best in the mvc this year.

I've never claimed to be an expert, but don't forget I started all 3 seasons as a Redbird along side Doug Collins in the day and did teach him a lot. You would have to go back over 20 years on this board to hear the true story of my playing days before I became a cripple.
I did not know that about u. That is pretty cool. Are you familiar with the character "uncle rico" in napolean dynamite?

I don't think they had dynamite back in Napolean's day during the Roman Empire.

Sorry Quinn, just saw this. And no idea, but I’d probably agree that it has to do with BRMM/Pep Band overlap.

I don't think anyone mentioned that the technical on their coach in the 2nd half may have been the turning point in the game?
Good point...I also noted during the game that there was a call against Rey when he was actually the one pulled down by the Trojan player that really seemed to get the crowd involved and focus the Redbird players.
I watched this again, and I can see why their coach was bent out of shape. The call that got him upset was a phantom travel call...I just don't see it. Following that, refs call the ball out of bounds on the Trojans that was clearly deflected by us. Sucks, however it's nice see some of the calls go our way on our court.

Rewatching the second half and just saw the play where the ref went down. I’m a little surprised there was no T handed out. The ref tripped on the coach who was out of the box while walking down to the other end. Nothing malicious but perfect example as to why they have the box in the first place.

I was too, but I'm pretty sure that's why the coach got a T later in the game. I know he was warned after the hirt ref went back in the locker room, and after the call where he started yelling he was way out of the box.

My thought was that since Veterans Day was a State and National Holiday, University Employee’s would have been off in Honor of our Nation’s Veterans! That was my thinking on why there where limited students and pep band members in attendance! Thought they might have went home for the long weekend!
