Re: At Western Michigan 2021

Hopefully, it’s less than 120 degrees when we play at Iowa. That game was a miserable experience. That was hands down the hottest, most uncomfortable sporting event I ever attended. I couldn't stand it by the 3rd Q and had to go stand in the tunnel. EMT's were busy that day with fans passing out fr...

Lansing's ship is going down faster than the Titanic. Dan's ship is sinking at a slower rate, like the Edmund Fitzgerald.
Either you got your coaches, or your ships, backwards ;)

Titanic sunk slowly and had survivors.

Edmund Fitzgerald went down immediately with all hands on deck.

He's a high-energy, fairly young Illinois guy who played, and coached in, the Valley, and has had success as a HC with Big Dance experience.

Not sure where the bad lies in that...

Re: OT: Beer

It might not instantly skyrocket attendance, but it can't really hurt either. The biggest things that will always draw fans are winning and buzz (no pun intended) and if you have both, then people will show up. Plus, it's another revenue stream. Even after the overhead, it should still bring in some...

Re: BU disgraces itself, telling longtime PJS beat writer 'You don't promote the Bradley brand'

A beat writer's job (and journalists in general), is to report, not promote. There's some latitude to promote with something like a school/private publication, but in a "regular" platform like the PJStar, you don't promote. I lost count how many media/writing classes I took in my journalism major at...

Re: What Style of Game do you want to see?

What FGCU did a few years ago is probably what gets the students most excited. If that’s what it takes to pack the house, then run that type of hi-flying offense. We had a lot of that in Jank's first two years with guys like OE, Champ, Slack, Boo, Dom, Holloway, Levi as the trailer bombing 3's, et....

Re: Muller seeks to restore 'toughness, effort'

You could see it very early on in the season that something was just way off with this team. Early on I predicted about a .500 finish and was chastised for it. But that's beside the point. The point is, it turns out there were several things off with this team: - No identity - Couldn't commit to def...

Re: vs Evansville (in St. Louis), 3/7, 8:30 PM, MVC-TV [FSMW+/NBCSC]

We could win by 20 or lose by 20 tomorrow and in either case, I wouldn't be surprised. As for the tourney being wide open? It definitely is. But not for four games. I feared in January that we'd have no legs left for this tourney given our short bench. Now it's time to find out...and unfortunately w...

Re: vs. Missouri State 2/27 6pm (FSN Midwest, ESPN+)

Nice win, Milik was huge. As others have said when he locks in like that, he carries the team. That's what happens when talent meets effort. The problem there, like the rest of the team/season, is you just don't know when it's going to show up. When these guys lock in and play hard for 40 mins = pre...

I hope we win.

I won't be surprised if we get nuked by 48 either.

I also dislike the whiteout idea, because it never works. "Color outs" only work if everyone participates, and that's never been pulled off successfully here.

Figure out a way to win.

Green goes off for 31 but in keeping with the inexplicable nature of this season we win by 10.

Previous exposition aside, this feels like a game we either steal a gutsy win by 3, or lose by 36.

In all likelihood in that scenario, the end will be an unseen, unexperiencable phenomena that, because it is unseen and unknown, cannot be fully confirmed if it in fact would ever happen. So instead, the focus should perhaps be on the means to the end, if such an end possibly exists at all.

Re: @ Missouri St - 3 pm - ESPN3

This game, and really the whole MVC season, is a swamp. But a very complex one. A swamp with many political overtones and resonances that can't be fathomed at the present time, but need the distance of the future to give it a perspective so that you can truly have a point of view, and realize the vi...

Yes it's true the league is awful and completely unpredictable, but no matter what you CANNOT come out that flat and awful at home against anyone. That was an atrocious effort and not a good way to start a stretch with 3 of the next 4 on the road. Just when you think these guys have turned a corner....

That '08-'09 season was cool (until the title game in STL.) That whole year, and the year before it, you had the feeling that hoops games were "the thing to do." You'd hear everyone talking about the games all over town, in class, the quad, etc. I remember we had 3 sellouts that year, and I think th...

Those extra kids in the seats makes a huge difference. It creates an atmosphere that was lacking. If you get that right I believe more paying customers will come. We got plenty of extra seats so let the students in for free! Anybody know how much money that Red Alert pass even raises? It's only lik...

Good post, Phantom. I actually think Porter learned as much from his experiences here as he did in St. Louis. You can learn from experiences that did not go well. Head coaching experience on this level helped set him up for success at LUC. When I trained employees, I would always tell them that I m...
