Re: Assistant coach?

Excellent Addition.

I watched their games 2 years back and they were well coached and had really good talent as they made the dance. The son of a good friend of mine played there and really liked the coach. This is a very good hire.

The discipline of the UNI background will also be very good.

Re: Signing day

And a couple years ago we were bitching that Dan passed up on a small town Washington IL player who went to Valpo and then was drafted to the NBA.

Re: College Basketball Coaching Carousel

Porter didn’t make the same mistake he made when he came to ISU. Our program was in the tank and the league was good then. MVC sent 4 teams to the dance and 2 of them made the Sweet 16 in 2006. Porter only got 4 years here. Not trying to judge that situation but Porter knows that St Johns is a wreck...

Re: College Basketball Coaching Carousel

The Big East is the Catholic league of college basketball so maybe Loyola just joins the Big East in a year or 2. Would St Louis and Loyola add a couple more big city names to their roster. I realize DePaul is already there, but that would be a huge rivalry game for the city.

Dana Ford about to make a splash

Obviously with Dana at MSU, I am hoping Dan can out recruit him.

I have heard a couple reports that Dana is going to have a great haul on recruits.

We will see.

Re: NCAA, refs, missed calls, overturning calls

I did care much who won, but the officiating was definitely in Virginia’s favor. In OT, Guy grabs the Tech player on the fast break, the other VA guy should have had a reach in foul, the evidence was not conclusive, and they took for ever to examine it. These reviews that are splitting hairs have to...

What Style of Game do you want to see?

Over the years of watching Basketball at ISU, we have had many different styles of ball to watch. I can remember when Donewald arrived, it was a dramatic change. Bender, Stallings, Richardson, Moser, Jank, and now DM all have a different style. The better ones can change their approach to fit the ki...

Fischer = Karl Malone
Bruninga = Larry Bird
Boyd = Isaiah Thomas.
Big Rey = Shaq

I am positive for next year.

Please don’t shout at me though.

Re: Arch Madness Talk

Correction... we are not on the 10 year plan, we are more likely on the 23-24 year plan - 21 already and this year was in reverse.

Congrats to BU, they did not quit on their Season, their coach, or on the title game. They did what we can’t seem to do.

Re: Muller / Hinson / Wardle - A comparison.

Congrats to Wardle for taking a complete disaster on Jan 15th tI the dance. It’s something we know nothing about. We should take partial credit for their success as we gave them confidence and 2 wins. It maybe our best chance to feel success. 21 years and counting the longest of any MVC team having ...

Re: 2019-2020

Okay, maybe we have the best developers known to man here at ISU. Nothing against Reese as he has done good work. We have to be better than what we have been so the first thought is to get some help. It’s how we run the program (with high self arrogance) which tends to be annoying to more than just ...

Re: 2019-2020

Rey has big potential. Get him to a Big Man camp where somebody can spend the summer developing him. He looks to have a great attitude and a high end motor I. Terms of energy and love for the game. He is physical enough to be a presence. Too much turnover is bad so hopefully most everyone comes back...

Re: Arch Madness Talk

Two teams with bottom 4 talent but top end coaches.

BU was 0-5 to start the Valley. We started 7-3. Then Bradley went 9-4 while we went 2-6.

Bad luck I guess.

Re: Barry Hinson out at SIU

I wish Barry the very best. He certainly deserved better. I was really cheering for him last night after we got beat. I think the guy can really coach and he has just been a player short from being really tough the last few years. When he got ripped off by the committee a few years back it destroyed...

Re: Arch Madness Talk

The final four. Loyola okay, I understand. Drake with a half team and first year coach, UNI who has a good coach and nothing else, and Bradley. All 3 of these were picked for Thursday night club at Christmas. ISU let Bradley get off the mat. One win against them and they play Thursday. We will be pa...

Re: Out Coached and Out Smarted

Yes, worst season in the 40 that I have had season tickets. We have had worse teams, but no year has ever had results so far from the already proven potential. We finished 2nd last year. This was all the same players as last year and the team was worse. The league was worse. In fact we were better i...

Re: vs Drake (in St. Louis), 3/8, 6:00 PM, MVC-TV [FSMW/NBCSC]

Look, I am frustrated and disappointed like hell. I am throwing stuff at my kids and kicking the dog. Its over now and thank god there won’t be anymore damage in the TV room. I have to think the Senoirs have to be even more frustrated. I saw it in their play. I agree that Fayne is a top guy. I feel ...

Game, set, season.

Couldn’t beat their scrubs.

One hell of a frustrating season is gone.

Sadly, I don’t see next year as any better as we lose 60% of our scoring, no newcomers or freshman recognized at MVC level.

Years away still.
