Re: Athlon Sports

we were 7th last year. 8th seems awfully generous. Think about this. Muller is picked 8th preseason in a 1-bid league in what....his 8th season? I’m almost starting to think the Valley has fallen so far off the map that ISU doesn’t think it could get someone better. 10 years ago they would be picke...

Re: Former Redbirds...

Good story about Will Robinson in the Dennis Rodman 30 for 30 by Bill Lambier. Will was a scout for the Pistons that found Rodman. Lambier thought Will was nuts because he was telling them how good Rodman was. Lambier was shocked to find out Will knew what he was talking about.

Re: New Intros at Redbird Arena

I was at a Purdue game last year and a couple other places that had it. You should just open the ISU app and the technology in the app does it.

Re: Could ISU ever get a new practice facility..

I may be mistaken, but I believe Matt Lyons talked us into making a 5-figure pledge to a multi-sport IPF with a $30-$35 million price tag. Since then, I have heard almost nothing officially, but the “number” seemed to drop to $25 million. Then rumors started that a $10 million inflatable type facil...

Re: Could ISU ever get a new practice facility..

10 yrs ago - give or take - when Bowman and Zenger were in charge, they built momentum around the football program using a terrific economy of words. Bowman said he thought we should be competing at the FBS level. Zenger talked about how K-State was a model for ISU in the way that they filled a foo...

Street and Smith has ISU 8th as well. I fully expect Muller to pick us 1st.

Athlon Sports

Has the Birds picked 8th. Thanks, Muller

This season has a 5th or 6th place finish with a 1st round exit at Arch Madness and Dan declaring they over achieved because the expectations were so low.

Re: New Entrance

I don’t really care about it. However, for years they came on to the field with the “Taco Bell” victory bell and had the touchdown cannon. Those were traditions. This is fine, but it’s not a tradition. It’s just a new way to enter the field. It’s ok, not bad, not great. The gameday atmosphere is sti...

Re: Morehead (not a) State

Brady Davis, 8-22 with 2 INT. Moorehead State was one of the worst teams we’ve ever played. If those are his numbers against them, we aren’t going anywhere.

Re: 2019-20 Expectations

Why would anyone think we would contend? We've almost completely turned over our roster, and none of the 'pundits' have seen any of these guys play. We're a mystery to them. I wouldn't suggest we'll contend were I in their shoes. I don't think any of us truly know what we'll have until they start p...

Re: Zenger to D-2 New Haven (CT)

“What shouldn’t go overlooked is that I spent six years at Illinois State, an FCS program that I believe is the sweet spot of college athletics,” he said. “This niche that New Haven sits in and Illinois State sits in, I think you attract, for the student athletes and the coaches, enough attention w...

Re: Zenger to D-2 New Haven (CT)

Such a shame we couldn't get him back here. Would have been nice to have real leadership again in the athletic department. However, he probably wouldn't fit in with Dietz and his lack of desire to be an elite Basketball or Football program.

REEK OH I know your standing behind that tree peeing on your self, but there is a forest out there. IT impacts ISU athletes. and they donate. Nothing wrong with the donation. Good for them. I have no problem if people want to donate to the other sports. However, lets not kid ourselves that ISU bask...

Also, that donation is great, but it impacts golf....a sport that could win the national title every year and about 20 people would know about. WITHOUT QUESTION i would be one of those sorry 20. In the process of perching ISU basketball, which I doubt many disagree with you on that, including me......

Re: Non-conference thoughts

LOL; Big hat no cattle : I guess and eight figure donation doesn't count Golf Now their reunion with Illinois State has led to something even bigger—an eight-figure planned gift that’s the largest single-gift commitment in ISU history This incredible act of generosity will have tremendous lasting i...
