Re: Redbird Arena Renovations

Based on this rendering, I can truly say that the arena’s new lower bowl may very well be worse (atmosphere-wise) I am curious. Why do you think that? The renovations essentially amount to comfier seats and handrails in the aisles. Frustratingly, though - the moat appears to have survived the renov...

Re: Good morning Redbird fans... It's Friday

Can we please delete this thread on account of the fact that every time I come to the board and see the title I think that it's Friday and have to remind myself that it is not. It's been a real source of disappointment for me all week...

Re: Vidette - Student Attendance

If for some reason they had to build a new arena I doubt they'd make it as big as RBA. I rather have a smaller and louder arena with the fans practically on the court. It's depressing to see all those empty seats. Agree. Grand Canyon did it right. 7,000. Even when you get 5,000 in a place like that...

Just for kicks...

Tourney starts today (I don't count the last two nights). Last time we made it was 21 years ago. I was 8. Probably didn't even know Illinois State University existed at the time... Lot's of not-so-fun-topics of conversation over the last few months (understandably) SO, just for kicks, what collectio...

Maybe we can start a separate thread where I can quickly reference player transfers to and from MVC teams. That way I won't have to dig through all the other chatter.

Re: vs Drake (in St. Louis), 3/8, 6:00 PM, MVC-TV [FSMW/NBCSC]

Will definitely miss Fayne. Great player. Wish our offense had flowed through him for more of the season. Honestly, I'll miss Key too. Really enjoyed watching him play the last two years, and wish this season could have gone better for him. There were times last season when everything he chucked up ...

Re: Thoughts for this week and going into 2019-2020--HCDM centric

As someone involved in training/development industry for nearly 30 years, I can tell you there's been a shift in what is expected by employees. While the company may expect to develop the employee for future internal positions, the employee expects the company to develop him/her for his/her next po...

Re: Thoughts for this week and going into 2019-2020--HCDM centric

I don't agree with that analogy. ISU (State Farm in your anology) didn't market Yak, Muller (a leader at State Farm) did. And, yes that happens all the time. A good leader wants their employees to succeed and move on to bigger and better things..... .....at the same company!! (finishing your last s...

Re: Thoughts for this week and going into 2019-2020--HCDM centric

I don't mind Dan promoting Yak, honestly. If you're a good assistant, P6 teams are going to find you anyway, and, as several others have mentioned, turnover with assistants is just part of the beast in ALL collegiate athletics. Not too many lifelong assistants, especially at mid-majors. I see it mor...

This is old news, so sorry if it has already been posted, but Denver Johnson stepped down as HC at Missouri Southern State. Was 3-33 in four seasons. Re: @ Missouri St - 3 pm - ESPN3

Wow. Should have seen that coming. The FIRST thought that went through my mind after they gave us the ball on the out of bounds near the end when Fayne CLEARLY was the last one to touch it was, "Crap. The ball never lies." Not a superstitious guy, but held true today. What a crap way to end the game.

Guess I'm a little confused as to why the opinions of, "He is a great, hard-working, selfless kid who represents our university and team well" and "He is not a very good basketball player, and our team is better when he is not on the court" can't exist in the same universe. Dude is easy to like and ...

Slightly OT, but didn't see a place for former coaches so decided to put it here. Taylor Stubblefield is new WR coach at Miami (FL) and Holmon Wiggins is the new WR coach at Alabama. Good for them. Two of the nicest guys you'll meet.

4th Intramural sports. I don't think it produces any revenue, but the participants foot a hefty bill that goes to athletics in the form of student fees. Virginia. Schools build indoor facilities for off-season workouts. Not just for football but for most spring and fall sports. That's when athletes...

For those in favor of a bubble, I think this would be a decent option. Just throw it up over Hancock. https://bceagles.com/facilities/?id=8 I'm not a huge fan of the bubbles, but can agree that it would be better than nothing. Just can't understand how so many D2 schools can manage to put together f...

Re: Lovie Smith gets a two year extension with the Illini!

Actually thought it was a pretty good move. Just maybe poor timing after the Iowa debacle. I'm not an Illini hater. My wife's an alum, and I watch quite a few of their games. Their defense has definitely been awful, but they've been making steady improvement overall. Offense was actually pretty exci...
