If you're any kind of coach you just know. It's called the eye test.
This sort of language is likely to get the basketball fans around here all riled up.

Re: QB Competition update

I think I may have speculated on this when Davis first came, but I wonder if there's some connection between Beathard and Davis from Beathard's couple of years back in Tennessee?? Kid attended a Beathard camp, Beathard knows some of the coaches from Memphis or the kid's HS coaches or something? Som...

Re: Position changes

Hadden didn't have the hands to play WR. Hatfield will be a good special teams player and utility back for us this season and then a QB for another school. I think it's safe to say that neither Broadnax or Hatfield fit Beathard's view of what type of QB he/we need. Both were recruited while Dicken ...

Re: Hancock Southwest Entrance

In reference to point #2...maybe that is one reason why the WIU budget is in the toilet. Bad decisions and tossing money at it to fix their BAD DECISIONS! I would rather see a different team on the schedule as well but is it worth the cost of what the buyout would be? I don't know what the buyout f...

The Nation's website has this: NCAA Certified All of our courses are approved and cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse. Our knowledgeable staff will set a success plan that will allow for achievement on the court, field, and in the classroom. Hope this works out. I'm guessing The Nation is not the i...

Re: Early workouts

“I was looking for arm talent. We need a big arm,” Spack said. “I felt I didn’t know coming out of spring if we had a guy who could challenge Jake in the program. Bryce Jefferson is a very good player, but I didn’t want to put that kind of pressure on a freshman. “This guy (Davis) will come in as o...

Re: Re: Broadnax to Safety

Didn't think that Broadnax had the passing accuracy to be a QB at this level, though the in-game sample size was small. Also thought that Spack's comments when Davis transferred in (no competition for Kolbe...) confirmed it. I hope this works out well for both Broadnax and the 'birds.

Agreed with that, 4th. Don't know that we should be ahead of UNI, but Youngstown for sure. What do you think the over/under on the final score will be when we play Southern? :)

Re: Travel to Fort Collins, CO

Tomorrow I'm going to book the New Belgium Brewery tour. I hear it's good and books fast Awesome downtown area fairly close to campus with many local restaurants to choose from. I enjoyed Coopersmith's Pub and Brewing! Any thoughts on whether either of these places would be a good Redbird gathering...

Re: 2018 schedule - thoughts and predictions

I think this is pretty easy. We'll go as far as our defense takes us. Special teams could be an issue - they're a real unknown. We'll score points but who know how many will come via field goal or extra point? There will be plenty of touchdowns.

Kind of what I was getting at was you can say cover 2. But that's like 31 Flavors saying we serve vanilla. Well there a million ways to doctor up vanilla, and there are a bunch of ways to cover out of a 2 shell. I just didn't want to type that much cause my finger gets tired. This is the kind of co...

Re: Nice Article on Megginson Departure from UofI

Sounds like Illinois just cast him aside. Hard to figure. So the OC and the line coach were teaching different techniques and he as penalized for choosing wrongly? This really feels like their loss is our gain. In any case, Megginson's maturity impresses me. Looking forward to seeing him play.

Re: Street and Smith and Athlon

My guess is that they all were looking for the same thing...a home game to balance the schedule. And when they couldn't find a Division 1 team to travel, they looked at D2 and NAIA. If everyone insists on a home game, then you can't match up these programs. We think we have it bad paying St. X to d...

Re: Coverage Strategy - Man, Ball, or Both

Sorry. Football. Football terminology. Every subject matter has its own terminology and jargon. With some subjects like astrophysics the terminology can be difficult to grasp even when it's explained to you. I don't find that to be the case with football terminology. Most of it is based on concepts...

Has anyone ever broke up with a girl and she told everyone she dumped you? I don't think it's that at all. Sounds very much like a situation where a player thought he was above the team rules. That he happened to be one of your best players should put to rest questions about the standards Spack emp...

Stopped by the stadium when I was in town a couple weeks ago and took pics that I decided weren’t worth sharing. Knew a professional would do it sooner or later.
