Re: Two Deep Offense

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, guys. I was looking at the two deep and decided it was time for another stupid question. I hope others get something out of this. What's the difference between the Jack and a DE? I see our two deep lists the defensive line as DE - NG - DT - Jack. Now, I like jargon ...

Re: Words to choke on

Unless you are going to collectively tell them why, you'll be pissing in the wind This is exactly the part of "I want to send them a message" that I do not understand. There's a better, more effective way than boycott. I am not trying to be a smart azz here, but what is a better, more effective way...

Re: Words to choke on

Illinois State cannot improve its revenues/donor base in any significant/sustainable way without improving their conference affiliation. Illinois State cannot improve its conference affiliation without moving football up. The issue is not whether Redbird basketball can afford to have football aroun...

Re: Words to choke on

I became an ISU basketball fan my freshman yr at UHigh an awfully long time ago. Thru the 70s, 80s, and 90s I was in the drop-football camp. During the Berry era I attended a few games, but Hancock was such an embarrassment. What an eyesore. Just couldn’t see a way to make football work here Then c...

Re: Barry Hinson out at SIU

Also @V Boy you didn’t answer my question. So not only will SIU probably have an alum as a coach they also have the hero football coach as their AD. We sure have a lot of people that think hiring alumni is a bad idea, but then compare ourselves to schools like SIU that will probably have an alum an...

Not ISU's fault. It is on TV which is why it is blacked out from streaming. V

Re: Two Deep Offense

My recollection is Spack said Davis 2020 was a lead pipe cinch. I haven't seen a confirmation that the NCAA views it that way.

Agreed there aren't many obvious issues on the two deep beside WR and RB depth. Hopefully this group puts it together.

Thanks, fourth. I really did read your reply. Just came back and followed the links at a later date. In any case, this kid looks like he has a chance to be pretty good.

247sports link lists offers from Cincinnati, Old Dominion, and Rice. The ODU & Rice offers say he's a smart kid, right? Anyone have an opinion on how reliable the 247 reports are?

I thought Muller showed admirable restraint by not voicing frustration after the Evansville game.

Re: Roster changes

Spack might want to start thinking about why more RS SRs are opting out of program once they graduate. Coincidence or trend ? This is a trend only in that the rule permitting grad transfers isn't very old. Just a couple seasons ago his options would have been to quit playing or to play as a Redbird...

Re: NIU Coach Leaves

I recollect Spack having turned down multiple MAC head coaching jobs before taking the job here, but I could be remembering that wrongly. At the time I thought it reflected how difficult he thought it would be to succeed in the MAC. Temple hasn't sucked as badly as they did before they got kicked ou...

4th, why the comments about Anderson phoning it in? I don't recall any scuttlebutt like that during the season, but my memory ain't what it used to be.

I guess I'll take this opportunity to remind everyone that St Louis could be the front runner for MLS' next franchise. A 22K seat stadium next to Union Station is planned. https://www.stltoday.com/sports/soccer/st-louis-hailed-as-great-soccer-city-but-mls-vote/article_c2b23429-904a-5854-93a3-69c1f57...

Re: Roster changes

I don't think we've heard the back story with Markel Smith. He was in the Spack doghouse by years end, that's for sure. There was a pretty consistent work split between him and Robinson early in the season. Wouldn't shock me to hear Smith wanted to adjust that. Does anyone know why things went sout...

Re: 2018 recap, 2019 needs ...

What happened to Jason Harris? I was expecting a big year from him. Was he hurt, or just lost in the shuffle in moving to LB? Why is in not at DE? I would love to see him and McKnight as bookend rushers. Is he the spark the DL is missing? According to goredbirds, he played in all 11 games getting 2...
