But I thought they were gonna break through this year?

Or so many thought.

They blow—-and it’s all the fault of Glasser. No doubt.
I thought Bradley would be an NIT team this year. Then again, I also thought we would be really good. Maybe the lesson here is to pay no attention to me...

Re: MVC Most Disappointing Team?

I realize this is ridiculous and not likely to happen BUT the possibility is still there so I'm going to mention that if ISU runs the table and loses the MVC finale they will be 28-6 with wins over BYU and UCF. Most of their loses would be good loses to SDSU, Belmont, Georgia (even though not great...

Re: vs. San Diego State 12/1/18

That's one of the reasons Ike won me over last year. He doesn't turn the ball over much at all. Hardly anyone has noticed that. I think that makes him that much more valuable as a shooter in 10 min a game or so. He also has a knack for coming up with a key rebound. I agree. I think Ike's best quali...

Re: MBB: Birds Picked 2nd in Preseason Poll

Hard to suggest a team like Loyola, coming off that season with those returners wouldnt be first. I think there are three pretty close teams in the top 3, and a very good team just behind them (Bradley). I suspect that who stays healthy will have a big bearing on who wins the MVC. Also, it looks li...

Re: Elijah going pro

One thing that bugs me is when we don't spell our athlete's names correctly. Especially when we criticize. Well, time to take MYSELF out to the woodshed. I've been spelling Elijah's last name Clarence...instead of ClarAnce. Redbirdfan IDIOT of the day. Elijah, what a chump I am!! Don’t beat yoursel...

Re: Is this the year?

Exactly. And that's what's both frustrating and causing the optimism to be guarded (speaking for myself at least.) We've been consistently good for a long time now. We've had one sub .500 season in the last 11 years. I think it's 10 of 11 seasons with 18+ wins and about half of those with 20+ wins....

Re: Ole Miss

Glad they honored their commitment. Speaks well of the new coach there. Honoring their commitment really only matters if they will be a quality win or a huge draw of fans (over 8k for a decent-sized gate). If not, taking a $150k-$200k buyout could have done more if we parlayed some of the money int...

Re: Is this the year?

I’ve been a Redbird fan since the Moser era. I’m sure some of the older guys/gals can point to other great teams, but could this be one of the best assembled Redbird rosters in a very long time? On paper it seems that way. We didn’t really have the defections we thought we might and we signed some ...

Re: Miss Arch Madness

Hey Redbird fans. I wanted to let you know that we really missed going to St Louis for Arch Madness this March. After 18 consecutive years of going, it was tough not being there. In our early days of going, we were in the play-in games quite often and sometimes lost that game. However, we would sta...

Re: Eight-Man Rotation?

This isn’t easy! I’ll say by league play it looks a little something like this: Key Copeland Milik Abdou Phil Boogie Jefferson Rey I honestly don’t know how he limits it to 8 with the talent in the building . Elijah Taylor If Elijah’s offseason work and competition with the Swedish national team pa...

Re: Power 6 Teams at Redbird Arena

Purdue came to I believe Horton when Gene Keady was their coach. As I recall it was a competitive game until about half way through the second half when their size and strength along the baseline eventually wore our guys out. That was a great game to watch. If memory serves, it was on ESPN. Horton ...

Not sure about the others but fairly sure Hill left on his own. Hill was the only player I ever noticed Dan benching due to a technical, in one of Dan’s famous choose to lose games. When building culture, why would only Hill be disciplined in this manner? Makes a good case that Hill was “run off” t...

Romine isn't going anywhere. Milik too this loss hard. He was unconsolable leaving the court. He isn't going anywhere. First time I heard coaches say on wjbc after the game that everyone will be back
I hadn't heard that. Seems like great news.

Re: #3 Illinois State vs #1 Loyola

Exactly. We weren’t supposed to be here but we made it here. We have everyone returning. Give Dan and these guys a year to up the defensive efficiency. The scoring is there. I think next year as a senior laden squad we have more upside than this Loyola team does. We have a great home schedule to bo...
