Re: Would MVFC Take a DIII School?

Fair enough, but the conference was not one big, happy family when it sponsored football. It is easy to compare the Valley with the Big East in this regard. The private, largely no-football privates have different priorities than the public, largely football playing universities. The BE split over ...

Re: Would MVFC Take a DIII School?

I don’t think the mvfc or gateway has ever had a private institution. For that reason alone I don’t see that happening. Do you think not having a private was intentional or just how it happened? Hard for me to find a reason as to why no private would be allowed. Nearly every major conference is mad...

Re: IHSA football finals in 2022??

Considering all the above points, I would trade chance to host a 1st round playoff game ... what, once every 5 or 6 years ... for the chance to have all those IL HS football player, coaches, families, and fans flow thru Hancock and Normal and people's TVs every fall n a nano second .. assuming the ...

I am very surprised and impressed with our ability to rush the QB. I thought it would be a weakness.

Re: Would MVFC Take a DIII School?

I've been waiting a while to throw this topic out there, didn't really want to do it in the middle of the season, especially before the Bizon game, but will toss it out there now while it's still "topical". For context, some of you may know that the University of St. Thomas, in St. Paul, Minnesota,...

Re: In-state athletic budgets..

lawson .. rough times for sure for several schools in your situation. What about the predident that was just pushed out ... I never rewad up on the details of that ouster. Was he part of the problem or just a victim of no win situation ?? A bit of both. He definitely shared some of the blame...didn...

Re: @ SIU 10/12/19

I get the feeling our conference is really starting to break off into Haves and Have Nots and we're sitting somewhere in the middle. The Big 10 shares TV revenue and that helps teams like Northwestern remain competitive. I'm not sure what if anything will keep the bottom of the MVFC competitive wit...

Re: @ SIU 10/12/19

Given the current REDBIRD football team standing (both record and optics) this is a must win game as respects to playoff hopes. Lose this GAME and it is highly unlikely ISU will make the playoffs given they have to play SDSU and Young on the road as well as play a solid Uni at home. I suspect winnin...

Re: Since 2016

Hey TR..YOU brought up the firing of coaches not me. That is your topic and do not try to imply I said things that race through your head. Total B.S YOU brought up the topic of being ok with "mediocre" performance. So what are you going to do about it? Would you fire Coach Spack for performance you...

Re: Since 2016

Really? I've seen 4 head football coaches fired during my time as a Redbird Football fan. They can all attest to the fact that there is indeed pressure to perform. Yep hose coaches were awful but mediocre is ok So all of our coaches have been awful or medicore and you would fire them all even thoug...

Edit..adding that the expected level of success is the major reason why ISU results are what they are..there is no pressure or need to do any or perform any better Really? Re: Since 2016

You do your thing, I’ll do mine. sounds like you are acknowledging his point Maybe. It’s pointless arguing though. I mean, we all want success for ISU Athletics...that’s why we’re on this board. I’m just very tired of mediocrity. I really didn’t expect us to win, and those that did were more hopefu...

Re: NDSU Game (10/5/19)

I was really excited to see Beathard return but now I am really wondering if there is a difference. You have to design your offense around the players you have so then maybe it is recruiting that is weak. In any event, it is an insult to the word vanilla to call this a vanilla offense. So...based o...

So when poor behavior occurs for this shining star of the college....does the college get their $$$ back??

Amateur sports and $$$ do not mix.
Colleges are not paying them $$$$ as the law would allow companies to pay athletes for their likeness.

This team starting so much like last year vs solid teams. Aka....Blown out when it matters and will end up with a couple of token late scores.

I love that coach is doing these. I think a lot fans are learning a lot, including me. :text-+1: And it eliminates the accountability for some of the media who fans previously had to rely on for information. Technology has obviously come a long way over time but with this, the get to know the playe...

Wow were getting 14.5 points at home....o/u 46.5 What do you all think of that? I think the o/u is about right i think getting 14.5 at home should piss off Spack and Co. I hope the 14.5 motivates and not irritates the Redbirds. ISU remains such a mystery to me. I do not know if this team is a legit...

Re: In-state athletic budgets..

Interesting. No one leaves a Notre Dame game early. They stay till the bitter end. They stay for the alma mater, fight song and post game band stuff. I think a big reason for that are the alumni in the stands. It's hard to get tickets through their lottery system. And going to games becomes a habit...
