Re: Idowu

I am also guilty of assuming this was bad news. it almost always is. my hopes for Rey were raised the minute i saw his FT shooting. I think he has a pretty nice shot and could eventually be a kid that shoots 75% or better. hopefully he has a great summer. Agree fakes news title. Got me too. They al...

I wish Milik the best. I liked his dad a lot. Maybe he grows up and matures. Hopefully a few years overseas will help him.

Re: John Beilein leaving Michigan

Not surprising that Howard is not retaining anyone. If he fails it will be 100 percent his own doings. I am a little surprised Michigan went the route of Howard. Just seems to be a completely different approach to their thought process when they hired Beilein

Agree the App State’s program has earned some respect. They are near the top of all the G5 programs.

Now if our Ncaa tourn quaulifier : Womens tennis can just get an actual toilet and running water, get rid of the "crappy" porta potty, out at their courts. What bathroom do the regular players (non-golf team) use that routinely play the course? It an outhouse is good enough for the regulars it shou...

Re: Illinois State:MVC All-Sports Champion

i misunderstood but same concept .what is good enough for the general ISU student players should be good enough for "student" athletes that play tennis esp when the general student population is paying the freight via student fees .

Re: Illinois State:MVC All-Sports Champion

Private schools don't have to release that data, public schools do. yep and it would be hard to compare with the privates anyway since they do not have to fund football. Looks like Uni is the one the gets the biggest bang for their buck. Although even with uni it is a bit different as they have wre...

Re: Illinois State:MVC All-Sports Champion

Appreciate you refereing to our hard-working dedicated student athletes as tall midgets. That's nice. Sweet, actually. Who should receive a sizable amount of credit are all the ISU university students who subsidize the ISU Athletic Dept budget so that ISU Athletics can outspend nearly all of the pu...

Re: "Indoor Facility ... #1 priority" ... AD Larry Lyons

Quinn makes a good point. Where you go to school depends on the program you want. ISU is competing for top students against UIUC in programs like accounting, sales, nursing, theatre, and especially education. It would be interesting to see our rankings if we had one of: law school, medical school, ...

Re: ISU over NIU listed as a possible FCS over FBS upset

Interesting little academic tidbit that really surprised me. This article provided a top 25 and bottom 25 for football programs results in the class room. They used 2 metrics ... basically, a Graduation Rate and then the NCAA APR (measures progress towards better graduating rates, keeping kids elig...

Potentially a road game @ pac 12. Oregon or Cal As a west coast transplant, this would awesome. When will we know? Hopefully by Mid July at latest. This would be great for ISU to get out west to play a P5! :text-+1: Absolutely. JFC need much more of ISU leaning away from their underside (MVC /MVFC)...

How has an incoming freshman earned that "bone" over the walk on? Have either shown ISU anything besides what they do in high school? Maybe we shouldn't give freshman scholarships at all?
Their talent or perceived talent as determined by the ISU coaches has earned them a scholarship.

Re: So how are we feeling now?

I hate the weave up top! only works with Meadow Lark at the free thow line Alternatively it only works, and it works well, when you have guards that are strong enough and talented enough to eventually make the turn and head towards the basket and either get to the rack or kick it out to an open pla...

Re: One Scholarship Left

“Pocketing “ a scholarship is a bit is a stretch phrase as in a technical sense as you either use it or lose it as the schollie does not carry over. I know we tend to think that a high school player offered and accepting a scholarship is a four year propisition as coaches want to honor the commitmen...

Re: "Indoor Facility ... #1 priority" ... AD Larry Lyons

Hasn't ISU dropped in the USNWR rankings because they included more schools in the National U grouping? While we may not be competing with UofI for many students, I do think we are competing with schools like Indiana and Iowa for students, instate kids that don't get into UofI are then deciding bet...

Re: Ricky Torres

Walk ons play just as hard at practice and spend just as much time at basketball as a scholarship player. Their job is to selflessly make everyone else better. Why would you not throw a kid a bone if you have one available. It's not like the student body"s going to get a refund for an unused schola...

Re: One Scholarship Left

There are various mentions throughout some threads about what to do with the final scholarship. Figured it would be easier to have it all in one place. https://www.pantagraph.com/sports/college/illinois-state/ex-wichita-state-point-guard-to-join-isu-men-s/article_1f0b5997-1def-55a8-9778-8ef741e07df...

Re: ISU over NIU listed as a possible FCS over FBS upset

Agree NIU will be the favored team and ISU will have to play well to win. We are definitely capable of winning but could get a beat down if we do not play well. Will be interesting to see how Robinson performs. I wish Markel Smith had kept his attitude in check last season and was suiting up for thi...
