Re: OT: SIU Arena Naming Rights

Yikes....kind of ugly, but I suppose it fits in with the decor of Carbondale. 10 years, $10 million deal. https://siusalukis.com/common/controls/image_handler.aspx?thumb_id=12&image_path=/images/2019/5/15/1_Full_Arena.png It's not a 10-year, $10 million deal though. The $10 million only comes if th...

Re: ISU over NIU listed as a possible FCS over FBS upset

Lets pump the brakes a little bit, while NIU is just a directional school and a total dumpster fire with awful academics, declining enrollment and no fan base, their football program remains solid and will take a great effort to go into their place and get the win. Personally, I don't see the point...

Brandon Simon, DE - University of Iowa

From his own social media, it appears we have another Iowa defensive transfer. Perhaps he has a connection with McKnight. Welcome Brandon Simon! 6'2", 250 DE. Originally from Don Bosco Prep in NJ. https://hawkeyesports.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6973 https://www.goiowaawesome.com/iowa-hawkeyes-football/g...

Re: 2019 6’3” SG Preston Urbancic

I wouldn't be surprised if we're recruiting his brother, Peyton (6'5", D1 offer from Army)

It seems like these are Belcher guys, as Preston was connected to Indiana State. Seems like a good shooter with an excellent academic profile.

Re: Redbird Arena Seats

Considering the amount of time we have spent on this discussion, I have officially asked to clarify a couple of facts: 1.) The state of IL has to approve the sale of the seats, as they are considered state property. The state requirement, based on the RBA bond, is that the seats are to be recycled b...

Re: Redbird Arena Seats

It’s illegal to dumpster dive on private property, which a state university is according to google. I’m not a lawyer. https://share.icloud.com/photos/0pD1bmT4ucfFdlx-ccsCa_QJA Now that this forum has turned into a courtroom, the counterargument to that would be that the Supreme Court's California v...

Re: John Beilein leaving Michigan

The other thing is he’s coached at every single level except the NBA. He could have realized this might be his only shot to coach at that level. There isn’t that much more to accomplish in college basketball for him. He could win a national championship. In jest...he has won a "national" championsh...

Re: Paradise Jam Matchups

Both coaches and ADs would have had to sign off on this. It’s on the schools in this scenario. If they feel the teams they will get to play are worth the risk, I’m ok with it. I’ll take the Cinci game and an opportunity to play WKU in round 2 versus the minor chance we end up paired vs Valpo. This h...

Re: John Beilein leaving Michigan

This is a very good job but i don't consider it elite. I think Yaklich is a strong candidate. I don't think lack of HC experience is a good reason not to hire someone. Izzo was never a HC either. Neither was Steve Fisher. Neither was Roy Williams there are many other examples. I think a lot of the ...

Re: John Beilein leaving Michigan

1.) I'm going to guess it's a significant raise above the $3.8 million he just started making - he was only at $2.4 million not too long ago. I wouldn't be surprised if the contract is 5 years, $30 million or more. 2.) There is a lot less time out recruiting as an NBA head coach than a college head ...

Re: at Bradley 5/10-12

Birds win Game 1 by a 1-0 score (our #1 pitcher is really good). DBU leading Indy STATE He’s beaten DBU, INSU, and BU in three straight weeks. Someone else needs to step up because we can’t go 0-6 against those 3 teams in games he doesn’t pitch. Today’s game is crucial! Both for tournament seedings...

Re: Abdou Ndiaye

Also have more concerns as I reviewed our roster this morning. Boyd is a prolific shooter but doesn't make many - all my concerns are based on stats. Coleman went dry for weeks so R 2 shooting guards may need a larger peach basket. Do you mean Copeland? We have a lot of unknowns right now. Last yea...

Re: Assistant coach?

I think this is about as good a hire as we can make right now. You get someone who has been a head coach for longer than Muller and can help in those aspects of running operations. That frees Muller up to recruit more, as well as other coaches as well. Jones' record is a little bit deceiving because...

Re: Assistant coach?

Mullins and Penny Collins joined the staff in August, Duhon was added in mid-June, and Reese was the end of May. As long as there is a new assistant in place by the end of June we should be fine. The new assistant won’t be involved in the 2019 recruiting class, so just getting them in before practi...

Re: Jefferson Transferring

Back to Jefferson - huge scorer for us until he got hurt. He could easily have been a 13-15 ppg scorer for us next year. He would have really had to work on his defensive game or just score more than he gave up. We have the guys on our roster who can take over these minutes but this will be a key re...

Re: Jefferson Transferring

Here is the question for the +/- fans: Would you rather have Fayne or Hein? Would you rather have Milik or Hein? If plus or minus matters to you who is the best player, your answer should be Hein, right? If it’s not, how much does it matter? I also question our stats sometimes in terms of say, turno...

Re: "Indoor Facility ... #1 priority" ... AD Larry Lyons

CU may have touched on why the Athletic Dept could reach the 34 million goal without having the money to put up an indoor practice facility. The money received so far could have been earmarked by donors for other purposes. The indoor facility may have been the dept. #1 priority at one time but surp...

Re: Brendan Mullins

Anthony Beane would be an interesting option, if he wants to come back to town a 3rd time. Mullins may decide to keep him on, but I wonder where he'd rather be - Normal or Carbondale. Can anyone confirm Mullins actually landed a recruit for us? I can't remember him being the lead recruiter on anyone...
