Our "friends" over on Bradleyfans are already down-grading him as "only having low-major offers".

On the surface, yeah. That is what it looks like. But this is a kid Collins identified early with a high ceiling. He reminds me of a thicker version of Fayne. He doesn't need to be the leading scorer, he just goes to work and does what he can to make the team better. He could be a glue guy like a Tony Wills. I like the pickup.

We are now out of scholarships for next season. Which is interesting with Chastain and Copeland waiting in the wings.

Edit: Just a reminder Chastain has not been promised a scholarship.

We are not out of scholarships if the right player can be signed. Someone currently on the team might be out of a scholarship if that player wants to come to ISU.

I get that totally, hence the hmmmn. Yet, there's no guarantee that Copeland is back. Long way to go. I like him a lot from a player perspective because Dan seems to be super high on him.

I think most of us realize who the first player or two would be off scholarship if it came to that. Yet...the dominoes of college basketball. Who knows what our roster will look like a year from now?

Right... I figured that went without saying. Obviously, at least one player, other than J.Mart, won't be with the team next year which will open up another scholarship.

But for now, to start this recruiting season we had 2 open scholarships for the 18-19 season. Offically, those have been used. So, Copeland and Chastain are without scholarships right now moving into next season. Someone's scholarship could be pulled... two players come to mind... or they transfer...one player comes to mind.

I would say it’s Chastain and Gassman that don’t have scholarships next year. Muller Made is pretty clear that Gassman has a scholarship THIS year...

If Gassman can get into some games this year, and contribute some 3's then it will be hard to pull his scholarship. I have a good feeling about him (I could be wrong). No he won't be a star, but he can still be important. I'm pretty big on Chastain too, but we'll see how he comes back from injury.

I wouldn't be surprised if Gassman gets a scholarship for another year too, but it might not be back-to-back years. Perhaps Gassman's parents invested in prepaid tuition and have a couple of years covered. Perhaps he has some other academic aid too. I certainly welcome Gassman playing to the extent where he could go to Dan, "I think my play has earned a scholarship. I know I could get one elsewhere." If he is playing that well, I'm sure something will happen to open one up. It's sad, but in this day and age, you can pretty much plan to lose 1-2 guys a year (or more) to transfer.

Does anybody think Gassman can be as good as that Justin McCloud was a few years back?
