65-58...a loss...but to the current cream of the Valley. Kudos for the fight. Keep up the good work, Redbirds! One game at a time.

This was a great effort by this team. They have definitely made progress.
A couple thoughts:
Keep shooting. When we pass up wide open shots, it hurts if we then take a lower-percentage shot late in the clock. I was happy to see Saylor keep shooting the ball in the first half.
I did not feel the officiating was called evenly in terms of Goods getting bumped around pretty badly underneath. They also did not seem to call Drake’s fouls as frequently as ours. Perhaps it was they were playing zone. Additionally, I do not believe the officials were consistent with 3-second lane violations.

Officiating...lol. Your comment sounds pretty typical. At times I have started to wonder if people should be replaced by machine in the officiating stage of sports.

The officials doing last night’s game were veterans. They are very good at what they do, but I think when they go back and read their evalauations, they’ll find they weren’t consistent. If you are consistently good for both sides or consistently bad for both sides, things will even out. They weren’t consistent though.chuckie1980 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 27, 2018 9:30 amOfficiating...lol. Drake is going to get special treatment in the Valley IMO. Refs are going to know they are undefeated and their coach is good. [aside, I don’t think she is long for the MVC] However, they don’t really need it. The only team making the tourney is who wins 3 games in March.
