I see this very differently. There were teams with open H&Hs whose dates matched our openings. Those H&Hs come with a return game next year where we can make up the lost home date this year. Net cost is the dollars that go STX for the buyout, nothing more (except for someone taking responsibility for scheduling this stupid game to begin with).Virginia Redbird wrote: ↑Tue Aug 14, 2018 12:12 pmIn reference to point #2...maybe that is one reason why the WIU budget is in the toilet. Bad decisions and tossing money at it to fix their BAD DECISIONS! I would rather see a different team on the schedule as well but is it worth the cost of what the buyout would be? I don't know what the buyout figure would be but that is money that could be used on something else. Just for info, does anyone know what it would cost to buy out of a scheduled game? I have no idea myself.

Yes, that would be have been far more preferable.StLRedbird wrote: ↑Tue Aug 14, 2018 5:28 pmI see this very differently. There were teams with open H&Hs whose dates matched our openings. But it seems AD Lyons got paranoid about prospects of having 2 straight seasons with just 5 home dates .. especially on heels of season with just 5 home dates, no FBS payday, and we had to fly to NAU instead of bussing to an FBS opponent like we usually do and collecting a nice check .. i.e. Iowa, Northwestern, Ball State, Eastern Mich. Then we fired and hired several coaches .. upgrades, in my opinion, that may have cost more $$$ .. certainly OC Beathard was an upgrade - time will tell on ther other hires, but they had nice bios.
AD Lyons was apparently too focused on this years football budget on heels of last year being a down year for budget. With our schedule this year, we have a chance to draw some real nice attendance #s .. I think Lyons was seeing $$ strictly. I know we need to manage to a budget .. but also need to have go to resources for situations like this .. AD Lyons does not seem to have those go to resources or leverage.
If we finish 7-4, I will have one eye on FCS selection committee, the other on AD Lyons .. scheduling STX was a mistake, not rescheduling was a bigger mistake. If we finish 8-3, it may just impact our seed or pairing.

The question of what is the cost to buy out a game is still waiting to be answered. The decision to schedule the StX game may have been a bad decision but in this current day and age I can't get too upset about an athletic department being fiscally aware. Money is needed elsewhere as well. There appears to be no real energy behind building the indoor complex, at least from my viewpoint. Publicly begging for the "lead donor" actually looks to me to border on being a bit desperate by the athletic department. That was my first impression when reading about it...desperation! The ISU athletic department scheduled this game and maybe they felt they should stick by their agreement. From the StX side it is a big deal for them I would assume. If this game impacts the ISU bid for the playoffs or seeding then my response is they should have won more MVC games during the season and not left it up to that kind of discussion. The Birds have left some games on the table the last couple years that I think they should have won. The South Dakota game a couple years ago (two turnovers inside the 10 yard line) and the South Dakota State game (not going for the win in regulation and that horrible OT performance) last year come to mind. I know it will not be popular here but the bottom line is win the games and everything takes care of itself. If you don't win the games that you should win then you are at the mercy of some B***S*** selection committee. I doubt that NDSU worries about seeding or selection committees...they expect to win every game, then they go out and kick everybody's butt on the field. It is a program attitude and culture and also some really good coaching and players. If ISU wants to be in the playoffs, they need to just kick butt on the field. That is the game...score more points than them! Pretty simple.StLRedbird wrote: ↑Tue Aug 14, 2018 5:28 pmI see this very differently. There were teams with open H&Hs whose dates matched our openings. Sorry, my last post was off the topic of the thread. I am all for ISU being ADA compliant...but truthfully, I really don't much care!

My suggestion is that they dedicate the sidewalk to all of the Walk Ons who have graced our program through the years.

They went all out

Well, well, well - In looking at the Hancock Stadium Map in my season ticket package - the Southwest part of the end zone is designated as the Alexander's/Famous Dave's Field Suites. The Heller Stores Touchdown Terrace is to the East of this.
