A thread to keep track of where players with MVC ties will be playing this summer.

Alize Johnson- Indiana Pacers
MiKyle McIntosh- Portland Trailblazers
Kaza Keane- Toronto Raptors (spent most of last season in their G-League affiliate.)
Dante Ingram- Chicago Bulls
Landry Shamet- Philadelphia 76ers

Other players who could end up on the bench of a summer team: Brenton Scott (INST), Bennett Koch (UNI), Tyler Smithpeters(SIU), Donte Thomas(BU), Tevonn Walker(VU), Jarrid Rhodes (MSU), Shaq Morris (WSU), Zach Brown (WSU), Rashard Kelly (WSU)

Deontae Hawkins could get a shot in the summer league but he is still rehabbing from his knee injury and hasn't played a game in almost a year. His age (25 at the end of the summer), also works against him.

Let me know if I missed anything or if you see reports of a signing. I'll check the rosters as they become available.. Summer league runs from July 2-17.

Sacramento July 2-5: Heat, Warriors, Lakers, Kings
Utah July 2-5: Jazz, Hawks, Grizzlies, Spurs
Las Vegas: July 6-17: Most of the other teams.

Hawkins really dropped the ball by leaving to go to another college. He should have been marketing his skills for international ball. He'd be a perfect fit in Israel, France, Turkey or Greece.

Hawkins is an idiot. He was actually awarded another year of eligibility and decided to forgo it.

Didn't someone here mention that he was turned down for another year of eligibility?

Deontae is currently 2 years older than the average ISU final year on-campus graduate student. He missed his chance at getting paid to play the game in both 2016 AND 2017. There is a theory that every player for every sport gets only so many "minutes" of game time in their career before they are no longer physically able to play at a top level. This is why MOST of the NBA draft picks had 2 years or less of college ball under them; NBA teams want those minutes being used on their court.
Even without the knee injury, he used up WAY too many of his minutes playing college ball. If he is playing his best ball right now, he IS an NBA caliber player. But he might only be that for another year, maybe 2. No pro team is going to waste their time on that kind of payoff. Nor will most international teams.

not according to this article...

"Hawkins played in just eight games last season due to a knee injury, resulting in his being awarded a sixth season of eligibility."

I still believe he would have been better off playing against ACC competition and trying to raise his stock for a better foreign league or maybe the G-League

If Teddy wanted to, he could have gotten into international ball after his last year at ISU. Someone put the NBA big in his ear and BOY was that stupid.

Heck, if Hawkins got another year then shouldn't it be a cinch for Fisher to get another? I can't seem to find how many games he played at San Jose, but I thought it was less then 8.

So Shaq Lawson is playing in the summer league? Man, a couple of years ago I thought he'd be quite a force. He didn't develop as much as I thought he would, but he's still better than most. We could've of used a big dude like that down low. It would have been interesting to see him and Krutwig go at it? I'm not sure who'd get the better of it.

I think Zach Lofton’s getting another year, too.

You must have been the one he listened to last year when he returned to again play college at age 24? If he was 22 or maybe 23 I could buy the argument of going back one year to help improve pro chances. I don’t buy the argument beyond that age. At age 25 he is older than the average age of some NBA teams.

An update from the announced rosters:
Alec Peters (Valpo) is playing for the Sun's.
Milton Doyle (Loyola) is playing for the Nets
Zach Lofton playing with Detroit

I haven't seen anything from those Wichita State or other MVC players mentioned in the first post.
