Back in about 2012 when I had season tickets and was healthy enough to drive that far, I had a 12 ft banner made that said "Redbirdfan.com" and hung it up on the rail in front of my seat in front of the handicap section.

At halftime some one from the athletic department came by and told me to take it down or pay to put it up at the games from then on, that's when they went broke. I guess I'm responsible for all the changes.
Sounds like ISU AD. They don't want fans. I really wonder what their goals are.

Festive. Lots of ugly sweaters. :o

It depends on the location and surroundings of the events. I've been to a few, Hawaii, Nashville, Puerto Rico, Cancun...

The ones set at an all inclusive are the best. For the others you need to plan your day more around transportation, depending on where you are staying in relation to the game venue. In a place like PR that's more of a tough go. At the all inclusives you just walk up from the beach 20 minutes before the game, and they serve drinks and food at the game. The best way to see one of these tourneys BY FAR.
Cayman will not be like this at all. The gym is on the other side of Georgetown and all three days G'town will be crawling with wayward cruise ship tourists. Travel thru town will take a while, unless they can route everyone around the downtown area. The official hotel is actually up towards West Bay and even further away then central 7 Mile. It will just mean more time on a bus in transit, nothing more. This is a high school gym so I have no idea if they will be serving any alcoholic beverages at the games.
There will be a Cayman Islands Classic Official Tailgate Party Zone right outside the John Gray gym. Tortuga Rum Company will be there along with a variety of food venders.
I’m not questioning you but where are you getting this information? Hoping there is a good meat patty vendor in the mix.

Get ready for the Tortuga rum cakes....beyond suggest get a rental car down there and enjoy the island. Great restaurants all over the island including calypso grill which is a good group dinner place with great outside space. Blue Tip golf course at Ritz is fun but frustrating as some fairways slope towards the water too much...which is a big deal for me as I don't hit them enough typically so to end up in trouble when I do hit a fairway is tough. Sting ray city is pretty cool and scuba diving is tops in the world.

Sting Ray City is world renown. The snorkeling in that area is fantastic.

Agree, the rum cake is awesome. Paradise on the ocean in Georgetown has great food, great location and for Cayman, is reasonably priced. Cayman is not cheap. That being said, the best part of Cayman is free, Seven Mile Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. There are so many great snorkel areas off the beach head. I believe Royal Palms is still open in central 7 Mile Beach. This is one great beach bar with great food. Looking forward to this trip. Hope to meet a couple of you guys.

It’s on their Facebook page.
Also looks like there is no public transportation to the games unless you buy an all Tournament bus pass from team hotels for $125 or take a taxi.

I think the hard thing to explain to newer Redbird fans on here is how low the standards of excellence from the athletic department to the performance on the court have fallen.

I just look at the attendance. Our average numbers have fallen way off. I looked back at some old schedules and programs. Back in the day almost every home game had some sort of promotion or giveaway. Now they do one Bobblehead (which I can't wait for the backlash to that because they are only giving away 1,000 leaving another 5,000 people going home upset). No promotions, no trips, no communication. I just never thought I would see a 20 year NCAA Tournament drought and the athletic department in this bad of shape.

Belmont has gone to 7 NCAA tourneys in recent years and drew 3700 last year.
Enrollment of 8500. And, it’s an artsy fartsy music school. Oft times, those kids aren’t interested in athletics, even though Belmont is a show your student ID, get in free school.

95% of all colleges have an attendance timeline very much like this one, many worse. Everyone is looking for answers. What say you, Redbirdfan posters? Specific ideas, please. The admins suck thing just gets old.

I’m not seeing any TV for these games. How can that be? What else are my sports package channels showing mid day on Mon/Tues? And not ESPN3 or ESPN+? Disappointing.

Thanks, I think. After I posted, wondered if I really wanted to see the games, if last night is any indicator of future performance.

I'm going to Grand Cayman . I was going to buy tickets at their website, but I had questions about the 'voucher' being offered and if the seats in that ticket voucher were reserved . I called 'got a voicemail message , no identification of any kind. I emailed, got no response.
So if no one else is going no point in the booster seating anyway.
In the meantime they raised prices from $150 for to $174 for the booster 3 pack.
Single game $50.
Must be too busy laundering money... :ugeek:
Southbound, did you book the trip? If so, are you staying at the team hotel? My wife and I are going down Friday and plan on going to the Monday and Tuesday game. In regards to game tix, we bought tix to Monday as was told by someone involved with the tournament that we could go to the box office and switch our current tickets to tickets in the ISU section.

Our athletic dept drops the ball again. Did they try to put anything together for this tournament? How much would it cost to send an email to all donors to gauge interest? Maybe they get enough people together who would like to have something at the hotel? Swing and a miss...again.
We're going , staying on east end of island, bought Monday single game tickets. Heard nothing about any ISU fan activities.

Heck, maybe Belmont has the right idea being in a low level conference making it easier to get the NCAA autobid.
Please don't give this administration any ideas. Given their mindset, this wouldn't surprise me.

Confirmed today from athletics that there are no activities scheduled for ISU fans/donors. That would make sense to try to get something together for the fans down there. They just don’t get it. And the real problem is that they don’t seem to care that they don’t get it. No effort. No concern. No worries.

Hope to meet you on island. Are you diving? Hope the Birds can raise their game.
