I originally read this as "Taylor looking to transfer to Evansville" and I thought Bruniga was gone! Glad thats not the case as I think Taylor could turn into a good player for us.

I would have thought for an in conference transfer he'd have to pay his way.

Or Evansville would have to sign a waiver to let him play here. Which i wouldn't do if i were the Aces.

But I don't know the rules as well as others on here.

Is that the case for a grad transfer?

Isn't a grad transfer just a special case of transfer within conference? I don't see any special allowances in the mvc rules.

It's funny how players from conferences like the Valley are good enough for the P5's, but for some reason, they just don't think their teams are good enough for the NCAA tournament.

Fact is, more teams are good enough for the NCAA tournament are good enough to get in, the P5's just don't want to have to play them.

Hasn't heard from ISU? I thought DM would have at least tried even if a long shot.

If Evansville would have only had 6 or 7 more players like him, they may have made the dance.

Why? The UE AD would be a fool to grant him a release to the Valley and no way Taylor's going to sit a year for free.

I'm not disagreeing with you but do we really know the MVC rule on grad transfers that take place inside the conference? I don't think it has ever happened and I'm not so sure there is any penalty to do so. Also the UE AD would get racked across the coals if he denied a grad transfer any where (see Pitt to UNC, and recently Michigan players to Indiana and Purdue).

Btw, there was no penalty for those guys to sit out. Same as Dakisch who this year transferred from Michigan to Ohio State. Big ten rule could be different than mvc obviously.

I don't know the answer. Just throwing out some questions. Also Taylor is from Gary, Indiana. He may try to play closer to home. Who knows.

Doesn’t really matter what the MVC line is. The school can still limit the options available to the grad transfer, like Martell did with a kid wanting to do a grad transfer from St. Joe to UAB or USA I believe. Martell refused to sign off. So unless that rule has changed . . .

Bird Friend, that was 2011. He took a ton of heat for that. I gave you examples from just the past few seasons where it happened. (Pitt to UNC, Michigan to Indiana, Michigan to Purdue, Michigan to Ohio State that’s kind of a big rivalry).

Just saying blocking kids on grad transfers isn’t what it was 7 years ago. A ton of bad PR comes your way if you do that these days.

And it does matter what the MVC rule is to. It might not be allowed by the conference period. Every conference sets their own rules on that.

He's not even going to consider anyone outside a P6. He's trying to increase value

Agreed. We are talking hypotheticals.

It won't matter, 'cuz he's not going to look here, but I'll ask the question anyway.

How many of those made the receiving team immediately the top pick in their conference for the following season? Like I said, Evansville can still block it. And, frankly, they'd be idiots to not block it to another Valley school.
