Wishing Loyola and Porter best of luck. Trendy Sweet 16 pick by many “experts”, which is usually the kiss of death. Would love to see them advance to the2nd weekend.

Sure would make us look a little better if they kicked butt.

Am I the only one annoyed at the attention they are getting? Chicago media largely ignored ISU last year (gave the snub play for a day or 2) yet is slobbering all over Loyola. It’s reached Northwestern level annoying.

Loyola is in Chicago. Last time I checked, ISU is not. Not sure why you are so dismayed.

It’s a little different in that they are actually located in Chicago IMO. And, not going to get a big ISU NIT buzz in their media. It’s a big deal when it’s been over 30 years. I think it’s justified to be excited.

Loyola was a pretty exciting team back in the day for Chicagoland. I watched them on WGN all the time. Seems like they played some NBC games too.

This is what Elgin and the Valley imagined when they brought Loyola in the league. Some here told me I was crazy when I said a year ago the Ramblers would become one of Elgin's chosen teams to do well. #3 market in the nation, folks. Even a little coverage in Chitown can go along way. This is very good for the conference.

Maintaining it is going to be the key. The seniors their going to lose, plus potential transfers from Custer (grad) and Krutwig (he's too young to stay in the MVC), they could have a very bad year next year. Hope not, though. It's my hope every MVC team has a great year.

In the insanely optimistic approach, what if Loyola can keep this pace, how long until they get grabbed by another leauge? Probably 5-8 years of sustained success (NCAA Tournament/Top 25 votes) I bet the Big East would kill to have a relevant team in Chicago. Most conferences would like to have Chicago presence, Big 12 maybe? Though they would want a football school too. Big East it is!

Great start for the Blers. Miami, like the whole Valley, cannot figure out Krutwig.

Shessh, ADunk. Do we have to worry about Loyola leaving already?

It was not long ago we had posters here telling how terrible they were as a choice for the MVC. I got beat up defending the Ramblers in the league.

I think it all depends on if Porter gets and takes and new job somewhere else. I think Custer / Krutwig stay if Porter stays.

Porter isn't going anywhere after 1 year of success. I see what you're saying though. Honestly, there probably would be no reason for Custer to transfer. He's not an NBA prospect and has played in the NCAA Tournament, so what would the appeal be? I selfishly would like Krutwig to transfer but he's already so good offensively, a rs year would be a waste. He needs work defensively.

Can't argue with Krutwig's talent ... he looks a little dumpy though, wonder if the shouldn't 'tighten' up a bit physically, of course that might make him less effective. Like telling a sumo wrestler to lay off the cream puffs.

Quite a bit of talk in Chicagoland about Porter staying at Loyola vs leaving for another job. Tim Doyle was on the radio and said Loyola better enjoy him this postseason because he's gone when the first major comes calling. I personally don't believe that. Money doesn't drive Porter like it does other Coaches. Now if DePaul opened...that would be something. Or Creighton.

I agree with you mel. 100%

personally..........i believe zero that comes from Tim Doyle unless it involves alcohol or gambling. Those are his contributions to the world. I wish Kendall Gill would have had five minutes alone with that tool instead of 5 seconds.

This game is reminding me of our game vs Michigan in 1990. Played our asses off and competed as best we could, then at the end we were just out-talented.
