Yeah, absolutely terrible news about Zeke Upshaw.
The report also notes Upshaw "was in cardiac arrest and was last reported to be in critical condition."

Might as well make the irony complete - have the Birds play Oregon in the NIT.
Maybe Mikyle can drive Hein out of bounds with .5 seconds to go up one and send him to the line
Still having nightmares of missing the opportunity of getting to play the Illini.

According to the Mac Irvin Fire Twitter account, Zeke passed away. Fortunately, that tweet has been deleted.

Hoping for the best. Had a chance to coach against him when he was at U-high in Chicago. A real nice kid.

My prayers are with him as his family.

Confirmations are coming in that Zeke has indeed passed.

This is so incredibly unfair. A good kid and an emerging pro. RIP, Zeke.

R.I.P. Zeke...Always liked watching him play at ISU, and I was really happy to see him succeed at Hofstra and loved hearing how he was playing really well in the G-League. Good player and great guy, gone way too soon. Damn.

Update article on Zeke, including an update from Zeke's mother.

On Sunday afternoon, Upshaw’s mother Jewel Upshaw told 24 Hour News 8 that her son continued to fight for his life.

“Zeke is being cared for by the best doctors,” she said. “The next 24 hours are critical.”

Dinma and Devaughn played against each other in the FIBA Euro cup. Not sure who won.

https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/coll ... story.html
He’s in the process of applying for a waiver for a sixth year of eligibility with the hopes of regaining the season stolen by injury. In the meantime, he’s going through rehab and continuing to work toward a master’s degree in sports administration.

“It was tough, but like my mom always told me, everything happens for a reason,” Hawkins said. “And I feel like this is a reason. To get my master’s, work on getting my master’s, and handle that.”
ISU has a master's program in sports management. I thought in order to grad transfer, you were supposed to go to a school that didn't offer the program you want?

It'd be amazing if he got a 6th year. He will be 25 in August, and 8 years older than his freshman teammates. Hawkins was starting for his high school team when the rest of his team was either in junior high or elementary school. That's wild. Lofton-esk with less travel.
