Thanks for chart. I believe Muller stated (hinted) that the Gassman scholarship was offered to him this year since it was available but that it may not be offered to him next year. Therefore we likely (may) have one available next year.

I would have to think his play this coming season could have a lot to do with that???

Yes his play matters but the biggest impact on the Gassman scholarship for next year (IMO) will be if ISU finds another big time player or not to add to the team...could be high school grad or juco player.

Should Copeland still be included for next year and the year after? I haven't heard that he is leaving ISU just that he isn't eligible this year similar to the McIntosh situation.

Good point. I will add him in for the next two. Thanks.

I assume he'll get a scholarship, but I thought Muller considered Chastain to be a WO with the need to prove himself. I think Gassman is on firmer ground than Chastain at this point.

I would much rather have Gman or Matt than Hein. Nothing against the kid but the other two are far better players than him. I could see Dan pulling his schollie before denying one of the other two regardless of David.

"Firmer ground" based upon talent and likely value to the team?

Chastain is not in scholarship this year. He (nor Gassman) is guaranteed a scholarship next year either. Pretty sure Muller was pretty clear on both of those points when they were announced. Did I miss something?

I don't think anyone is "guaranteed" a scholarship for next year?!?!?

IMO, Gassman on firmer ground, because he's on scholarship, and Chastain is NOT. I don't see Gassman falling off scholarship at this point, if he continues to do the things that earned him that scholarship. Not really concerned, since we tend to have 3-4 surprise defections per season.

We all have opinions but this whole thing is silly. For a few reasons.
1. Was anyone here privy to conversations between coaches and parents/student athletes? No
2. How does the scholarship matrix from last year compare to this year? It doesn't. and It won't compare next year either.

Technically, nobody is guaranteed a scholarship next season. So can you move everyone to WO, Quinn?

OKay, that was a great "King of the Hill" reference. Think the BIrds will be loaded next season, but who's in a Redbird uni....mystery time. :?: :?:
