For those who remember, a Donewald coached team would never have allowed 100 points in a game.
Gave up 107 to Oklahoma 1987-88 season. Of course, beating Iowa the night before took some of the sting out of that.

Belmont's conversion off missed shots or turnovers was at times lightning quick. I respect programs that play an entertaining style of play...cause it builds and keeps a fan base.

Every AD and coach always ought to keep that in mind.

Moving on from tonight.

A team cannot win consistently when they have a coach that is still lost on how to coach this far in to his tenure, he feels that he needs to make some stupid point with his best player every single game, and has players like Matt Hein playing large minutes every game.

Seeing in person how much quicker they were to the ball was shocking. We were outcoached, out- hustled and outshot, etc, etc. (By a much less experienced team mind you. Rarely see a team shoot the lights out like that. Didn’t necessarily think we would win this one, but did not see giving up a100 either. Team was unprepared for back door passes, fast break, perimeter defense and switches, etc, etc. We’ve got a lot of work to do, but hopefully this turns out to be the kick in the ass we need. We aren’t as good as we think we are......yet. Dan has to get this together. How do you score 89 and lose by by double digits!!!?? Geez. Belmont would be a great addition to the MVC someday. No wonder they are virtually unbeatable at home. Here’s to hoping we bounce back for the Georgia game. Go Birds

Seriously just play Fayne, Yarbrough and Copeland 30 mins. Evans, Jefferson and Tinsley 25. And the other guys split the remaining 35 mins. It’s not that hard.

Let them play these minutes over and over so they get into a groove NOW so we can win the games that actually matter (the first 12). You don’t win those the next 18 don’t mean squat.

For how well Muller recruits and builds a schedule, his strategy for which players he plays and the urgencg he sets to get his best players playing well with one another is a real head-scratcher.

If he can’t get the top 6 players playing really well together within the first 5 games then he shouldn’t care so much about building a killer schedule.

Glad to get your perspective. Thx for the fill-in. Do you get to many Belmont games?(you probably already mentioned that)

Belmont is in an excellent position basketball-wise. I don't know about the rest of their athletic program but the ballers would be crazy to leave that conference. Every single year they've got a solid shot to make The Dance...and they do every couple yrs. I'm jealous.

Bullsht. It happened.
Like I said earlier . . . SIU put up 105 against Donewald in 1984.
I made the trip to SIU for that. It happened. Now quit bringing up that bad memory.

They left the Atlantic Sun conference to get to the OVC. The A-Sun was a travel nightmare. The OVC footprint is very advantageous to Belmont in terms of travel. They aren’t interested in going back to an A-Sun like travel conference like the MVC would be for them. Not happening.

Agree. Nice to get orange slices from an OVC team.

Very frustrating time to be a fan of this athletic program (volleyball being the exception. I’m sick of the Yarbrough stuff. If we were going to deal with this again, then Muller should have kicked him off the team after the latest incident.

Very disappointing start. A gift wrapped win and a loss where they allow 100. Pathetic.

“He just doesn't compete and he's not coachable. That happened last year a bunch of times. I'll do it again,” said Muller of benching Yarbrough for long stretches.
I know Yarbrough is good. But I can’t root for him on an individual basis.
