they have a hard time getting anyone in anyways so there should be no restrictions. hell, they need to reduce ticket prices.

Fair points made except for the not leaving single tickets available. They are correct this is industry practice and for good reason. If the seats are that good I recommend finding a third person to join you. 2 and 4's are always the most popular hence they will be purchased first. Leaving single tickets should be discouraged if we don't want our seats half empty.
Buying two tickets together should not be dependent on finding a third person to sit with us. Sorry. We will have to agree to disagree.

Let’s face it, the ISU athletic department doesn’t care about the average fan. Unless you donate to a certain level to the WSF, you are more of a pain to them.

They’ve gone to a model where they want to squeeze as much money out of the people they know will buy tickets no matter what. Everything has a cost at ISU, including the fact you have to pay for food and drinks in the stadium club at football.

It’s sad that Bradley is doing a much better job with their basketball tickets. They did a deal for the upper bowl end sections that you could get 4 season tickets for $150 total...guess what happened they sold out 3 entire sections in the upper bowl. (Info here: https://bradleybraves.com/news/2018/3/1 ... th=general).

ISU isn’t concerned with growing their fan base or selling out the arena. Their goal is to not upset their guaranteed donors and keep their money so they can survive. This is why they are putting in more “premium seating” areas to sucker someone into paying a lot of money for those seats. Even though they can’t sell all of their other premium seating areas (see football this weekend where no one bought the Alexander’s/famous Dave’s end zone tent so they gave it away to Country).

I love ISU, but the fan base that is still left will be down to nothing if they don’t change.

They aren't going to change a policy like that based on "when we are good" or "when we sell out". If they did, you'd be pissed if we ever start selling out and they changed the policy because you've always done it that way.

I get the ticket office has made mistakes, for sure. Any idea how many full time employees the ticket office employs? Not college kids, not interns. Actual employees that work 30-40 hours a week. I'd be shocked if it was more than two.

And again, ISU is trying new things with tickets.

Anyone know if either exhibition game will be televised or on the radio? The schedule doesn't show anything for those two games
The first one will definitely be on student radio. 103.3 FM WZND or WZND.com

Yes! I took full advantage of the vouchers and the Student For A Day promotion. Great deals on tickets this year. Reasonable lower bowl for most games and $10 upper bowl for every game no matter how many tickets you buy for each game.

Not including student or part-time workers, they have a(n):

Associate Athletics Director/Ticket Operations
Assistant Director of Ticket Operations
Ticket Office Graduate Assistant

Since a lot of their work besides selling tickets at the box office is outsourced, I don't see any need to have more than two full-time employees and a grad assistant. A lot of the issues with "tickets" aren't affiliated with these positions though. A lot of issues fall with the people who are or were in charge of the people above.

I have been impressed with the things our marketing team has done under their new leadership group.

I suppose Bradley's ticket deal is good. But many still don't actually come to the games, But BU continues to show them in their announced attendance numbers. But heck. Let's do it like Bradley.

I have not had issues with buying season tickets for either basketball (27 yrs) or football (22 yrs), or when I have purchased extra tickets, for many games. However, I have had friends, neighbors, and co-workers who have had many issues.

Another item - those scanners for tickets - terrible. The last home football game, lines waiting to get in - well as we finally got close, it was clear what the problem was - the usher was incompetent. Multiple scans for each ticket - numerous attempts for my wife, then for me. After three attempts - that was enough for me - I just said screw it, take the ticket and I am going forward. Just ridiculous.

They only averaged 5,100 last year coming off an MVC title (only averaged 5,900 that year) and were in the top of the Valley standings.

I saw the goals of the marketing department was to sell out 1 game this year. The bar isn’t high right now in the athletic department.

When was the last time Redbird Arena was sold out for a regular season game?

A budding rovalry either a top 25 Wichita couldn't even sell out bit it did sell 9,500. Although only probably 8,500-9,000 showed up.

So maybe a goal of one sellout this year is a good start!

High quality products in both football and basketball but people simply don’t attend. They are trying new packages so who knows. But even in the glory years with Smithson, Donewald and Kevin we just couldn’t pack either field house ona regular basis. I really don’t have a problem with athletic department cause I don’t know what they can do to change it. 21,000 students and a small percentage support it. The rest are oblivious.
