Re: Uniforms

A lot of the purchasing jerseys concerns goes back to the university making money off a players likeness. "Oh, I'm going to get No. 25, for Robinson." Though I love jerseys and would happily buy a legit replica, I understand that ISU doesn't want that likeness issue to be so overt. Other universiti...

Re: Turf Updates

Anybody ever consider a "Double Bird"? Put two Reggies in the middle of the field each facing a different way...problem solved! Just kidding...Sunday morning...I need another cup of coffee!

Re: Uniforms

This is more a college thing for recruiting I guess. Outside of the Throwback uniforms you see the NFL players wear now and then I don't recall the pros changing helmets even though I think just about all of them have alternate jerseys (like the Bears Orange this season). I don't see the Birds havin...

Re: Turf Updates

I would not mind the light and dark green alternating patches of the field. That could look kind of cool depending on how it is done. Black or Red end zones does not matter to me but something besides all green in the end zone, please! The uniforms could use some updates. I personally like the white...

Re: Turf Updates

This does not have anything to do with the Hancock turf (Unless they are planning a color other than green!) but it was a very interesting article about how Boise State tries to protect its stranglehold on blue fields and I guess in their opinion...every color but green! https://www.nytimes.com/2016...

Re: Turf Updates

That Reggie head would look good in my basement. I wonder if Larry would sell it to me.🤔 Years ago when the Bears tore up the turf at Soldier Field and put in the natural grass they passed out pieces of turf through a promotion deal with Shell Gas stations. I still have my piece of turf from Soldie...

Re: Turf Updates

You all didn't seriously think the field was white, did you? After EWU and BSU went kinda crazy with field colors, the NCAA mandated that all fields be of a "natural color" going forward, I believe. This excludes endzones and center field logos, of course, but expect the field to remain green, but ...

Re: Turf Updates

Prefer natural grass.....although expensive and likely not coming back for a long time. I hope the turf plays as safe as it can and we are not cutting corners in terms of making health and safety a priority. Along those lines, I wonder if they still use those little black rubber pellets when instal...

Re: Spring game on Saturday....what will you be looking for the most?

The Pantagraph article about the spring game. Spack comments on the passing game and that it will improve through the summer and into the fall. Kolbe is the starter for now. No real surprise there. 3 way battle for backup QB. Running game looks solid. Quite a number of players being held out with in...

Re: ESPN+ and the future of MVFC on ESPN3

I saw the thread on AGS yesterday. I will likely buy the ESPN+ package since if I want to watch the games I have no other option. If ESPN is going to charge for it I would expect the quality of the broadcast to improve. Over the past three years or so of being able to watch ISU games on ESPN3 the qu...

Re: Cam Meredith

It's nice to see that everyone who covers the Bears both on radio and in print seems to agree that the Bears really shit the bed on this one. One guy suggested this means the Bears may still take a WR in the first round (though by trading down- not at 8). I hope Cam has great success in The Big Eas...

Re: Cam Meredith

I figured Cam was gone from Chicago when I started this string. Ryan Pace has not exactly been successful with his personnel moves. I give you Glennon as exhibit #1. I am sorry to see Cam go from the Bears, I thought he had a great deal to offer. Best of luck to him in New Orleans. I hope he does gr...

Re: Redbird Football good, others bad...

The Redbird offense was a mess the last two years under the former coaches. Kolbe had to work in that system and with what appears to have been very little in the way of coaching experience that knew how to develop young QBs. That is all on Coach Spack since the Co-Coordinator concept was his decisi...

Re: Spring practice right around the corner....who is pumped?!!

I have not seen this article mentioned so I thought I would post the link. Coach Spack talks about the competition at QB. Says Malachi showed some good things but has a long way to go. Also talked about seeing what Smith can do following his Redshirt year and that Hatfield is a "good athlete". I kno...

Re: Cam Meredith

Ryan Pace speaks about Cam as he visits the Ravens, Colts and Saints. Coach Nagy speaks highly of him and how he fits into the offensive scheme he is bringing to Chicago. The Bears can match any offer and it looks like unless some other team sinks a significant amount of cash into Cam he will probab...

Re: Spring practice right around the corner....who is pumped?!!

I have seen it before when a coach makes an unexpected roster move and the surprise catches the opponent off guard and for one game or one half it works. How about Kolbe being the surprise? UNI game in 2015. Roberson couldn't throw the ball so Kolbe was the passer. Took UNI awhile to adjust. And th...
