Re: Indoor Facility News

So I first posted this in response to TR on the Brady Davis thread since it drifted to discussion of offseason workouts and facilities. So clarifying where I left off on Brady Davis thread .. if Sports Admin told us today, we will NOT do a bubble and we probably won't have a new indoor building for...

Re: Brady Davis

I always wondered how Brady would deal with the cold weather up here, him being from the south. I doubt he ever played in those conditions before. Terry Bradshaw grew up in Louisiana and went to Louisiana Tech. He had a NFL Hall of Fame career with the Pittsburg Steelers. Brett Favre grew up in Mis...

Re: Brady Davis

Ahhhh Normal in February. I used to sweat my ass off walking from Hillview Dr. to Horton. So what about the receivers? I am wondering who is going to replace Schnell next season. When Warrum graduated Schnell picked up the leadership role. Some of the young guys this season looked good at t...

Re: FCS coaching changes ... couple big ones

The question now is, who replaces Kleiman? As this article speculates it will almost certainly be someone with direct links to the program. Probably same old business as usual but everything ends at some point. Not really even a ripple in the force with Kleiman was promoted. What happens this time? ...

Re: Brady Davis

Could use a haircut, a couple receivers, and a place to throw the ball this winter! :P I don't care if Davis wears pigtails with bows if he plays well next year! I thought we solved the problem of a place to throw the ball in the other thread about the indoor facility...toss the ball in the bitter ...

Re: Indoor Facility News

I read your links, Virginia. I saw a bunch of stuff about how good NDSU, and a link to a YSU webpage about their indoor facility. You make a big deal about SDSU and NDSU having indoor facilities. Now, don't you think that might be a bit higher priority for them, being their location? The point is, ...

Re: Indoor Facility News

Interesting info, Virginia. But you didn't answer the question. except to provide a link about YSU's indoor building. At the time they were doing that, we were coming up with $25 million for Hancock 2.0. Should we have built an indoor facility instead? It just gets tiresome. Some posters b1tch and ...

Re: Indoor Facility News

What more is it you want the admins to do to guarantee playoff bids Virginia Redbird or, Birdswin? What are we doing differently now than what we did the years we did make the playoffs? Sadly, your own words show the problem. What is ISU doing differently from the years they made the playoffs? Noth...

Re: Indoor Facility News

Nobody in athletics I am talking to is at all happy we did not make the playoffs. Not at all. The goal every year is to play for a national championship. You have to get in the playoffs to have a chance, and there is disappointment we did not make it. And again, there are other building options tha...

Re: FCS coaching changes ... couple big ones

The current AD at Kansas State was the AD at NDSU that named Klieman the Head Coach after Bohl left so they have a significant history together. Not sure what the fan base in Kansas would think about Klieman and the AD would have to consider that. I would think Klieman may want a new challenge. Not ...

Re: Indoor Facility News

Horton is not wide enough for an indoor football facility. Redbirdwarrior, have you ever been in Horton on any weeknight during the semester? It is used a lot for intramural basketball and volleyball. All six courts. Softball plays games in there. The batting cages for both softball and baseball go...

Don't some NFL teams use these dome things for practice?
I don't know about Pro teams but Arizona State University has a dome they practice in to avoid the blistering heat in the desert. Seems to do that trick for them.

Re: Indoor Facility News

I have been in domes or bubbles, as some call them. They work just fine but they are not a permanent fix, unless you want to purchase another one when it wears out. The U of I put up a bubble in 1985 and it lasted over a decade. http://www.news-gazette.com/sports/illini-sports/football/1998-06-17/ui...

Brohm has decided to remain the Head Coach at Purdue and declined the Louisville job. This ends the specualtion. No Purdue opening at this time.

Re: Lovie Smith gets a two year extension with the Illini!

Two things you HAVE to do as an A.D. 1. Increase revenue. (ie: raise money.) 2. Hire good staff. (ie: coaches.) Whitman's no dummy. Heck of a college athlete. Made NFL rosters. Law degree. Hit the fast track on athletics administration and shot to the top for his dream job in a short amount of time...

Re: OT: Former Players

While just surfing around the websites for the new Alliance of American Football (the new spring league starting in 2019) I found two former Redbirds on initial rosters. Cameron Lee is listed on the roster for the Arizona HotShots (Yep, that is their real nickname...I did not make it up!). Marshaun ...

Re: Lovie Smith gets a two year extension with the Illini!

I read with total amazement that the U of I just gave Lovie Smith a two year extension on his contract with the Illini. the first thing that popped into my head was...why? Since details have not been released it may be an adjustment to the buyout if the Illini fired Smith. That buyout now is $12 mi...

Re: 2019 Wish List and Expectations

The good news is that ISU returns a lot of starters and experience and in theory they should improve during the off-season? The bad news is that ISU returns a lot of players that are average football players and overall the team likely missing impact players (Robinson a huge exception) next season ...
