Re: Redbirds vs Broncos 11-17-17---ESPN2--12 Noon

This game started out bad right away with the hot shooting of BSU coupled with the lack of defensive intensity that DM is demanding. DM knows that defense wins games and he is requiring that "all in" mentality on defense that last year's team embraced. I will say that I saw everyone playing hard on ...

Re: ISU vs South Carolina - 11/16/17 - 10:30 AM - ESPN2

Outstanding win!! As has been stated already, MY's passing can be a difference maker. The MO State game will be exciting to see him go up against Alize Johnson. But the real difference maker is from everyone playing on D. The commentator -- LaPhonso Ellis -- when discussing MY's offensive abilities ...

Re: FGCU Predictions / Thread (11/11)

I think we all agree that the defense wasn't good. I too thought more zone would have stopped some of the penetration and scoring down low. A lot of missed assignments on the new guys. If you watched the game, DM tore into his players more than once during TOs which seemed to be related to missing a...

Re: FGCU Predictions / Thread (11/11)

This team not only showed a lot of heart but a lot of talent. Being shorthanded showed itself on the defensive end which caused everyone to stretch themselves beyond what they should have. Very impressed with the offense -- MY with 10 assists and Key with 7 assists. Rebounding hurt us bad (24 vs 48)...

Re: REDBIRDS! We may have injuries. It's only an exhibition....

Good exhibition game for the short-bench Birds. Not a lot of ball pressure but noticed our turnovers were at 16 -- a little high considering the opponent. Nice shooting by the team (48, 41, 68). Very impressed with our newcomers. Not sure why Malik didn't start but he is going to be a beast. Love wh...

I guess with all of the injuries it probably would make red-shirting anyone almost nil out of necessity. The bright side is that some guys will get more minutes and experience than what was planned.

Re: Chris Payton Verbals

I do believe it is important to get players from Illinois and locally. IMO, they are much more likely to stay and develop and not get homesick or leave for other reasons. Family and friends are still very important at age 18-22 as it always is. I don't have stats to back this up, but I feel our tra...

Re: RB's Robinson & Smith .. history lesson

I was glad to see the heavy use of the run game against YSU. Lots of game time reps for the run help with continuous improvement. If we can get more consistent with the run game then this will open up the passing lanes better and give more opportunity and ultimately increased confidence in the passi...

Re: Showdown For Relief

This is a young and inexperienced team trying to put it altogether. Maybe DM wants a milder introduction to D1 hoops for the sake of the newbies and younger guys. Plus EIU is just down the road apiece. You never know what goes into these decisions. If DM wanted a better team and couldn't get any lov...

I've always been disappointed that Doug never became the ISU head coach. Can you imagine the recruits we could get in here!
I think we all would have loved this but he is global in the basketball world. ISU is really too small a venue for him.

Re: Conference Schedule

Tough non-con for a team losing major scoring, minutes and experience. Honestly, winning 7-8 games will be a challenge. DM made headlines for his comments on being essentially snubbed by P5 teams for scheduling but received a nice call from Ole Miss from it. I hope we can deliver some wins against t...

Re: Hopefully...Coach Muller through 2024....

I am sure this is a stretch commitment for the administration. I don't know the top AAV/length of contract scenario that they would be willing to offer to keep him but this is a top level contract for this school. Even if the Redbirds could match dollar for dollar that a P5 could offer there may be ...
