Just don't pull an Underwood.
Really? Pot shots on a first year coach? We are just as young as that team is too.
Isn’t Underwood an experienced coach with time at a P5 school? He isn’t a hot young assistant in his first year in the big chair. He chose to come here and chase the big money.

Re: Luke Litwiller, Olympia...walk on.

He's already 6'5" and 200 lbs. He may be needed to give us some post help with that size. As of now, Yarbrough may have to step into the post to help Fayne and Bruninga out like Hawkins did last year with Ndiaye and Romine out. Bruninga will definitely have a baptism by fire in the post. He will ha...

Re: #18 WIU at #13 ILLINOIS STATE Noon Kickoff

a 35-40 point win will be needed to to move up in the polls....plain and simple.. It will take a lot for us to move back into the top-10, but we may get closer if NDSU beats SDSU. I can't see SDSU staying in the top 10 at 6-3. Unfortunately, it looks like the only schools that would move out are MV...

Re: Ndiaye Injured

Considering we’ll have 9-10 scholarship years (assuming neither leave early) tied up in Ndiaye, we will need some All-MVC production from him this year or next to even make it close to worth an investment.

Re: Tickets for Western IL Game, November 4

The second part expanded the discussion to answer the "why" question of Redbird Football attendance. Why do thousands of fans show up and tailgate outside but never come inside? Why do so many fans leave after halftime? Why do we traditionally draw better for special event games (Homecoming, Family...

Re: Attendance

If I'm not mistaken, the 2007 average includes a 17,200 "sellout" crowd for Homecoming against SIU. Basically they packed them in and SIU traveled a lot of fans. We don't have the opportunity with our current stadium to fit that many in, especially thousands of extras in the grassy areas. I think th...

Re: Tickets for Western IL Game, November 4

I believe the issue has become that enough people tailgate for homecoming and realize they weren't going into the game. Thus, why buy tickets? If all the people tailgating would have used their tickets or bought tickets, it would have been a packed stadium with the lawns more than filled. For Family...

Here's a couple questions for donors: 1.) Has anyone been contacted by our Executive Associate Athletics Director/External Affairs, Dwight Merilatt? 2.) Has anyone ever spoken to him? (Perhaps you initiated contact) Could you please your perspective on that interaction? 3.) Have you, as a donor, bee...

Re: Realistic Expectations

I've mentioned this a few times but figured I would again. 6-5 does not get us in. Last year was the first time they let in a 6-5 team and it didn't turn out well. What are the odds they let that same 6-5 team in again? 6-5=out. 7-4 =in. 8-3= on the bubble for a top 8 seed. 9-2= top 5 seed. One gam...

Re: Are the Redbirds #7 for this season in MoValley?

No, they won’t be unless we can get healthy. We didn’t have the depth to begin with. I am more excited about our post presence right now. This team could really be helped if our transfer post could step in right away. That would free up Green to use her midrange game to score more. She could easily ...

Re: What does retired number mean?

Sometimes it is a retired jersey and the number isn’t retired. That should be clarified though that it is a retired jersey and the number is still used.

Didn’t we retire Jeff Wilkins number right before his son signed here?

Quinn, while I would normally not swear in this type of environment, I think your policing my use of an F bomb is a little hypocritical given the way some people on this board like to personally attack people and spread rumors. You allow people to post on here that I work for ISU or that I am a Lyo...

if theres one thing ive learned about message boards... people love to bi$%& even during solid wins for the program. Nice win Birds! What a great win. I can't remember a time when the birds have beaten a top 4 team. Maybe in 2014? I really hope this rights the ship. This is a good time to sta...

Re: Top 25

So are you inferring EIU is a signature win for ISU? Massey ratings have them at 51. Their 5 wins that you reference are against teams Massey has rated 57, 77, 84, 85 and 107 out of a 124 FCS teams. I would say that EIU has generally fattin' up on the bottom of The FCS. I stand by the statement tha...

Re: 2018 - Rey Idowu a Redbird commit

If Gassman can get into some games this year, and contribute some 3's then it will be hard to pull his scholarship. I have a good feeling about him (I could be wrong). No he won't be a star, but he can still be important. I'm pretty big on Chastain too, but we'll see how he comes back from injury. ...

Re: Mid Season thoughts

A few concerns: 1.) If your OL is having a lot of trouble, does having a PT OL coach make sense if he is also focusing on the overall offensive strategy? I don't believe it does. I don't want Dicken calling the plays though. Perhaps the offseason is when we need to name a FT OC. 2.) Are we really su...

Re: Muller mentioned as candidate for Louisville job

I have heard (don't know of true) that if the Redbirds get good there is more donor money out there for them. I'm sure utilizing State farm in some way would be possible, as well. If they don't piss them off. There is definitely enough money in the stands to pay Muller $1-1.5 mil per year, give Spa...

Re: Realistic Expectations

If Kolbe doesn’t have time to get off passes, give a drive or two to Broadnax. One way to deal with O-Line issues is with a very mobile QB. I said this off-season that an OL transfer was my biggest wish. I though we had a guy or two we were going to nab, but it didn’t pan out. If we can get one or t...
