Re: OT/Former Redbird: Red Boots Resigns

Since I "started" this, I'll toss in my two cents . . . . . First, I used the "Red Boots" sarcastic nickname because, well, I thought it was a joke, basically. The Red Boots, that is, the whole "act". Out of place, didn't fit. God bless him for "being himself", but while it might have played in Tuls...

Re: Redbirds - Rams predictions

I'm still thinking about this. Issues from the Colorado State website "Game Notes": Since 2006, CSU is 9-1 against FCS opponents with its only loss coming against North Dakota State in 2012. NDSU would go on to win the FCS national title that year. • CSU ranks 11th in FBS in passing offense, averagi...

Re: Here we go again...

Ticketed for what violation? I can't do it until we can be specific. "ticketed" may be the wrong term (http://www.pjstar.com/sports/20180912/isu-basketball-star-milik-yarbrough-suspended-indefinitely)..how about>>>"Milik was arrested and released Wednesday on a $1,500 bond on a charge of failure to...

OT/Former Redbird: Red Boots Resigns

Former ISU HC and Missouri Southern HC Denver Johnson has resigned effective immediately. His record 3 games into his 4th season was 3-33 (as I figure it). Pretty rough time. http://footballscoop.com/news/denver-johnson-steps-missouri-southern-state/ http://www.joplinglobe.com/sports/denver-johnson-...

Re: Rumor: Cornbelters to move to collegiate league

So more than a rumor. Normal has asked for two week extension to deadline to decide. https://twitter.com/Pg_Reinhardt/status/1041741116620660736 Read an article someplace about Northwoods League expansion, they have a team in Hudson, WI coming in, and found another in Kokomo IN, so two for balance....

Re: Travel to Fort Collins, CO

Is this game available for viewing in IL for those who can't go to Colorado? It doesn't look like it is. The game is scheduled to air on AT&T Sportsnet, Rocky Mountain Region. In looking over the channel finder: https://rockymountain-attsn.att.com/channel-finder/ It seems every provider you choose ...

Re: The List so far 2019

Just saw the add of the kid from Stevens Point, WI, Jack Kelly. Sounds like a good get, here's an article with some good stuff. Gotta read all the way through, lots of ads breaking up the text. From Stevens Point Area High School - known as "SPASH"! Probably also the HS of DC Niekamp. https://www.st...

Re: Rumor: Cornbelters to move to collegiate league

I think they will draw even less than they do now if they go to a college league. The two Northwoods League franchises I'm familiar with, Madison and St. Cloud, promote the crap out it. Madison is really a unique situation in that league I think for some reason in terms of attendance and community ...

Re: Rumor: Cornbelters to move to collegiate league

Im thinking one of the main draws to move to a college summer league would be to keep ISU/heartland players in town for the summer. Do other college summer league teams have their own stadium like the Cornbelters? Like Timmy, I'm most familiar with Northwoods League. In Madison, the team plays in a...

Re: Hancock 2018 attendance ?

Set aside how the weather turned out -- the weather forecast was for rain 100% in the afternoon and 70% at night. I'm sure a few hardy road regulars -- - were scared away looking at that about the time they were deciding whether to hit the road or not. Some have big regrets, I'll bet! As for ...

OT: Minnesota HS Stars

I thought some of you die hards might enjoy checking out this pre-season all-metro football team from the Minneapolis paper. Lots of kids who are commits to or being recruited by our rivals in the Dakotas and UNI. Don't see us listed with anyone, not all that surprising. http://www.startribune.com/f...

Re: Here is the problem with ISU and the community

I'm a little late following up on this, but I saved this article from the Minneapolis paper and wanted to share it with those who might want a little reading on college football attendance. The article is mostly about the Gophers, but also includes discussion on the Big 10+ and the broader sports wo...

Re: EIU game comments

I'm liking our starting WR group a lot, but still need to build the 2 deep. So i was thinking .. why do we always move offensive players to defense so much ? How about we balance things a bit .. huh coach ??? So my brilliant idea is to shore up the WR group by moving our best receiver on defense to...

Re: EIU game comments

Pretty hard to argue with the outcome of this one, altho EIU isn't picked to be an OVC power exactly. Birds played pretty well, opened it up a little more. Faced some fairly decent EIU offensive talent. QB Davis looked more like a "work in progress" this week than last, but you have to assume he's s...

Looking more like dry by Saturday late afternoon /evening. I'm thinking and hoping the same. Staying south of Decatur it sounds like. Is that what the forecast looks like fellas? A few forecasts I have seen are rain (60-75% chance) and windy. The local TV radar forecasts up here in Madison last nig...

Re: GAME 1: Sept 1- St. Xavier 6:30 p.m.

Another item from the stat sheet:

5 completions to RB's Saturday night. 26 all last year in 11 games. Welcome back Coach Beathard.

I know it's a small sample size vs. a "lesser" opponent, but hopefully sign of a trend, get the ball to the RB's thru the air.
