Fed Court upholds Transfer Sit-out rule

Yesterday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit (headquartered in Chicago) upheld the NCAA rule requiring transfers to sit out a season before being eligible on their new team. I'm posting it on the football board because the case that went up to the Seventh Circuit was brought by an NI...

I feel a new retro TV series coming on that explores all the fun and hijinks we had back in '07.
My character would be played by Denzel Washington or Steve Buscimi.........it's a toss-up.

Re: Zenger out at Kansas

I'm not one to make excuses but that there were a lot of things working against that tourney jbird. 1. We were coming off the Porter Moser years. The last of 2 were a combined 24-35 and 10-16 in the conf, 10th place followed by 8th place. This was Jank's 3rd and 4th games at ISU. 2. That tourney wa...

Re: Zenger out at Kansas

I'm sure that there might be SOME Chicago alums who would be willing to get involved (or more involved), but when I read about a supposed deep, untapped well of support from Chicago area alums, my conclusion is poisoned by the embarrassing ISU attendance at the Chicagoland Invitational several years...

Re: Conference USA Scheduling

Counterproductive. Pitting the top 5 against each other several times likely means a less impressive wins and losses record, and we already know that RPI means nothing for a non-P5 conference.

Re: WIU Enrollment Woes

There is likely a combination of factors that weigh against WIU enrollment, but it had to be devastating for there to be months of speculation that the university might have to close its doors due to the State's fiscal/budget woes of 2016-17. What student or parent would want to commit to a school t...

"Just walk away" was the best advice, but...........and I'm not a defense attorney........the "facts," may not add up to anything all that serious. Her allegation that she was "pushed" in the back as she was going down a flight of stairs might be subjective. She might have felt "contact" and interpr...

Re: Boyd commits!

Just to be clear, will Boyd be on scholarship during his sit out year? Don’t know. Don’t care. That’s a Dan and player issue. Why some fans obsess about it is unclear. Holy shit we agree. If on scholarship wouldn't it count against our 13? If there is any relevance, that's where it lies.

Re: Tax Law Change

I know that prior to the change, a WSF donation was 80% tax deductible; apparently, there was an assumption or estimate (consistent with IRS guidelines) that 20% went toward the personal benefit of season ticket priority, and so that 20% was not deductible. But, if tax deductions and IRS refunds ar...

Re: Loyola

Was Gerry Pollard reffing the Loyola-Kansas State game? I'm sure that I saw him over the weekend doing one of the Elite 8 games I've noticed over the years that refs we hate are apparently among the most respected by the NCAA.........at least they get prime Tournament assignments.

Re: Rumors starting already

Observation: Because of the Selection Committee's obsession with mediocre teams from P5 conferences, it is possible (even likely) that a Final Four team would not have been in the tournament field if they had lost in the championship game of its conference tournament on March 4th.

Re: NCAA Tournament thread

Valley record in the NCAA tourney: 2-0. Record of teams in the NCAA tourney that recently left the Valley: 0-2. This may have been mentioned back in December, after Loyola had already won at Florida and the 'Birds had wins over South Carolina and Ole Miss, but at that time Valley teams had won 12 a...

looks like a shit ass conference for a basketball school And the MVC is more than a shit ass conference now? C'mon we've become marginalized over the years. We've lost Tulsa, Memphis, Cincy, Witchita State, etc. We've gained Loyola and Valpo... WOW!! So unless we expand and try to poach some school...

Signed with Cal State-Northridge; released from that LOI after they fired head coach Reggie Theus.

I agree. Even though we beat them twice, I think the Salukis have the best and probably only NIT chance among Valley teams.....finished second in the league and booked 20 wins. Nobody cares about RPI.

Re: Rumors starting already

I think y'all are misreading the original post in this thread; it never said that two players would not be back.......it said that two names will not be back. There was a time when Cassius Clay never came back to the boxing ring, and a time when Lew Alcindor did not come back to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Re: 24 Hrs Later

We are all frustrated about the close-but-no-cigar finishes in the Valley Tournament, but to use 0-6 as an indicator that we are not getting talent is flawed logic. 0-6 during a regular season would be a measure of futility, but 0-6 in championship games means that our talent got us to where eight ...
