Re: College Basketball Coaching Carousel

The "Captain Obvious" question almost begs to be asked. Will the new UCLA head coach open his first press conference by stating, "This is my UCLA."?

Re: Muller seeks to restore 'toughness, effort'

All I'm saying is lets not crown Dana national coach of the year yet for having a winning season and signing a four star recruit. The hyperbole around here is at an all time high. Perhaps the hyperbole is at an all time high because the frustration level is nearing an all time high. Seven years ago...

Re: Vidette - Student Attendance

The overall experience for students is NOT enhanced by having grade schoolers running up and down the court for halftime entertainment. If you want students to get into the games... don't bore them to death at halftime. This subject has been discussed before, but nothing seems to change. Bring back...

Wardle has been "approached" about the Nebraska job. Is that as in, "Hey, Wardle, you know a few people in the coaching profession who might be a good fit for us. Who else do you know whom you think we should hire at Nebraska?"

Jerry Palm article from yesterday, shows of P5 schools, 75% of them doing better in NET than RPI. What a shocker!! It's almost like it's by design  Looks as though Elgin and the MVC office need to get busy and crack another code. Of course, then the P5 simply will come up with yet another ne...

Re: Muller seeks to restore 'toughness, effort'

This program is obviously in need of more than just players who work harder and are tougher. There are needs for good shooters who take good shots, rebounders who block out, an offense that works for the best shot available, a true point guard to run such an offense, and a higher basketball IQ. In o...

Not everyone wants him fired right away. Some do want him fired. Some don't want him fired. Others want the expectations for the next year or two made clear to him and for the performances and results during that time to indicate he is making the moves and adjustments necessary to get the program ba...

Gordon Lightfoot's "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" provided more positivity than the last six days of Redbird basketball performance and rumor mills. At seven pm a main hatchway caved in, he said Fellas, it's been good t'know ya Whether perception or reality, I think the next two lines reflect...

Re: Arch Madness Talk

Was in the Enterprise center for the game. Can someone summarize what happened with the technical foul call? Sent from my SM-G935P using Tapatalk Foul called on the shot, so two free throws for Bradley. Once the whistle had blown on that call, play was considered to have immediately stopped, so the...

Re: Barry Hinson out at SIU

Hinson deserves kudos for going to bat for the Valley on multiple occasions, including his calling out of Gary Williams at Maryland. He also deserves a "coach's purple heart" type of medal in recognition of the infamous shafting his SMSU Bears received from the NCAA tournament selection committee.

Re: FCS Win over FBS Tracker

The MVC has to go on the offensive - recruit at least 5-6 existing FBS teams and make the move up Tulsa Memphis Arkansas State Ball State Northern Illinois Western KY We'd have 16 in hoops (East and West or North and South) - 10 teams for football. WIU, Indy State, Drake could all play in Pioneer w...

Re: Birds Picked 5th in Preseason Poll

I'd take us 3rd because lines win football games and I think our OLine will be one of the best in FCS. Why is NDSU not in the Big 12 yet? Anyone? Possible partial answer: For the time being, it seems members of the Big 12 have discovered they like splitting post-season appearance payouts 10 ways in...

Re: Could Adding an Engineering Program help Redbird Basketball?

Establishing a marketable major like engineering will enhance the viability of an ISU education and could attract more students. A question will be which, or how many, of the various engineering disciplines might be offered. Realistic planning should recognize the type of academic programs that are...

What really doesn't make sense is the idea that mid-major coaches would avoid such games out of fear of adding two or three more losses to their record. Considering how everyone knows the only way to get an at-large berth out of the selection committee these days, short of having a record of somethi...
