Muller's Talent Strategy

Going into this year, it looks to me like Muller's key pillars of his talent strategy were: 1) Continue to recruit size/length (6-4+ guys) 2) Blend new kids from Illinois with out-of-state kids who checked the size/length box. This presumably would drive more local interest in the program and provid...

Re: At Northern Iowa 1/24

This game, as usual, will be decided on the perimeter. If we let their little gym rats run around the 3-pt line and bombs away, we will get embarrassed a-la-Drake. If Evans, Williams and Tinsley can stay in front of these guys we at least have a shot. Think Yarbrough, Fayne can score in the paint ag...

Re: At Indiana State 1/20/18

It is amazing. Muller knew what was needed 2 years ago. And this is the output. There is not one guard on ISU’s team who can: 1) stay in front of his man 2) create his own shot How does this happen? A lot of underachieving going on. Looked good on video and paper. I’m frankly surprised by Clarance ...

Re: At Indiana State 1/20/18

Kindred just wrote a column about the Redbirds needing to grow up. That’s all fine and good, but it completely ignores the obvious talent gap between IndianaSt and The Redbirds. ISU can steal wins at home against these teams at the beginning of the year. At the end of the year it’s going to be much ...

Re: At Indiana State 1/20/18

Dan screwed himself when he couldn’t convince Hawkins and McIntosh to return. Yeah, Hawkins is out for the year...but no guarantee that happens here. Dan is the one who established the player movement culture here. He has constantly attempted to patchwork the roster with transfer players and player...

Re: At Indiana State 1/20/18

I can’t believe that we are ready to decide that the freshman are no good. Like they have all had less than 20 D1 game. Clarence hasn’t even had 10. And people think that they are a waste for 3 more years?? I can’t wrap my head around that. Again, go find tape of Paris Lee his freshman year. Bad. R...

Re: At Indiana State 1/20/18

I’m not sure we are an NIT team the next three years, much less an NCAA team. For those people who were worried about Muller leaving... that ain’t happening anytime in the near future. No P5 is hiring that guy, sorry Well, this is year 6 for Muller and we are worse than when he started. Had a coupl...

Re: At Indiana State 1/20/18

this is the most I have enjoyed the board this year even in a blow out. I added our 6 whiners and bitchers to my foe list so I can't see their posts. Some of you might want to look into it. Make sure you spell their names exactly as they show up on the board if you do this. FYI I added: V Boy, rico...

Re: At Indiana State 1/20/18

Unless Copeland is a stud, we’re in trouble next year at guard. And may be anyway. This roster is landlocked with some really problematic guards. It is amazing. Muller knew what was needed 2 years ago. And this is the output. There is not one guard on ISU’s team who can: 1) stay in front of his man...

Re: At Indiana State 1/20/18

Maybe I am off, but Gassman seems to produce and less of a liability (bar is low right now) more than Hein, Clarence, and Tinsley yet plays behind all of them?? Gassman can’t guard anybody. Can’t create own shot. Have said this before.....you can only have guys out there like him if you lead 1 and ...

Re: At Indiana State 1/20/18

I’m not sure Evans would play much for Indiana St Evans would play. Kid can play, our offense doesn't help him out much. That said, while I think the overall talent of INSU's PG and SG is better than ours, we make them look really good with our defense. He would be their 3rd guard. And Tyreke Key m...

Re: At Indiana State 1/20/18

What happened to the good shooting of Evans? He’s not quick enough to get his shot off. He can’t get any separation like Barnes. He's not as good at creating his own shot, but it doesn't help we basically stand around on offense not doing anything. Would be nice to see some sets or motion or someth...

Re: At Indiana State 1/20/18

This is the type of game where playing your 9, 10 and 11 guys exposes you. Gassman, Hein, Bruninga all fine role players but look overmatched out there trying to hang with these guards and wings. Ayayaye. Can’t believe how we went to so quick and athletic to so slow and unathletic so fast. This team...
