Re: Robinson better than Coprich? RB position looking good

I think we can start calling ISU the Running Back U of FCS. Again, not sure who gets the credit .. was it Conard finding these FBS-FCS tweeners by looking at the tape and seeing something he could work with ?? But since we found Coprich, we have been killing it in RB department .... our biggest pro...

Re: How ISU Became a Football School

While I would love for ISU to start putting all of its eggs in the football basket, so to speak (and stop with this charade of ISU being a bball school), I question whether this is the right thing for FCS/G5 schools to do. Given the questionable long-term viability of tackle football as we currentl...

Re: Brian Anderson- New WR Coach

I agree that we do overlook our redshirt players. I think we're generally in the dark about their ability to make an impact and their development. It may show in practice, but we don't get those reports very often. The WR need last season was great enough that I'm pretty sure we actually played Patt...

Re: Bison win 6th Championship

Good win for the Bison - but, good grief, what a terrible job by the refs in this game - that was just embarrassing for a national championship game. The Bison punting unit should be embarrassed after this game. Terrible "tackling" giving up long returns multiple times. Bison kept giving JMU great ...

Re: New DC- Travis Niekamp

No Kidding? So the only two years of Redbird Football that produced playoff teams in the 1900s, Niekamp was a coach? And had played during some of the dark days. Hancock was a discouraging place back then. But those teams just brushed it off and went about their business. And those teams made me th...

Re: roster changes

We've seen these omission errors before. And I think I remember players being pulled off as a signal that they need to get their act together. Usually they'll come around to clarifying players who are departing.

Re: ISU early siging day - results

If it were up to me ... only the WRs should be even be remotely considered. Maybe a DB if one is truly needed and ready. We have plenty of nice sized DTs waiting their turn to step up. So they should be ok there. No other position group needs help so why waste that year of eligibility. Agreed. Just...

Re: Offensive Coaching Changes

p.s. still looking for help at WR !!!!!!!! I hope we are able to find or develop more physical receivers. Sometimes our guys were basically guided out of bounds or moved off their routes by defenders who were strong enough to push them out of position. I'd look at other receivers who while well cov...

Re: ISU early siging day - results

It looks like all of these players are from our recent recruiting areas. I think our ability to go back to the same areas and recruit shows that Redbird players are having a good experience.

Re: TEAMS IN BOWLS THAT WOULDNT BEATMOST MVC TEAMS

North Texas was in the Valley for a time before the Birds. Don't forget Northwestern. They play Kentucky in the Music City Bowl. Not sure if they make money or not, but of course they get the Big 10 bowl share that WILL make money. NU shows how crappy the bowl system works. Despite being better than...

Re: OL Megginson tranferring in from Illinois

I think Megginson is a capable OL starter in the Big 10. Lovie inherited a roster with horrible depth though. He was trading wins this year for developing his roster for two or three seasons later. Good players were getting bumped in favor of developing freshman, Megginson included. This. The Illin...

Re: Offensive Coaching Changes

Leonard coaches small school hs football. There would definitely be a learning curve. This seems to come up every year. I would prefer not to have coaches go through their growing pains in a critical position for us. Could he be a good D1 O-coordinator? Sure, but probably not year 1 (without experi...

Re: #18 WIU at #13 ILLINOIS STATE Noon Kickoff

I know that the reputation is our strength and conditioning program is great, but we were manhandled all over the field in the 2nd half. We looked tired. WIU controlled the line of scrimmage both on offense and defense. Our receivers don't seem to fight for the ball or even get in decent position to...

Re: #18 WIU at #13 ILLINOIS STATE Noon Kickoff

I don't think Western will be able to run on us. I'd say that without the rain, but with it even more so. Will they be able to pass on us? Yeah, probably not as well as USD did, but yeah. I'm worried that they'll pass for big gains. We've been susceptible to big pass plays...and WIU seems to be goo...

Re: Tickets for Western IL Game, November 4

I'm not so sure about some of our attendance numbers. In the past few years we've had 13,391 a few times, but never any more than that. Have we actually shut down the ticket windows and reached our capacity of lawn seating?

Re: Targeting

Not from our game, but this "hit" from the Northwestern Penn State game Saturday morning was also ruled targeting. To me, this NU player was clearly trying to avoid helmet contact by contorting his body. The heaviest blow comes from his back. https://www.landof10.com/northwestern/godwin-igwebuike-no...

Re: @ NAU Gamethread

It sems that we've grown overconfident, and have been exposed. What we thought would be problems during the off season have finally shown. NAU is one of the worst teams in the country at stopping the run. Their opponents average over 5 yds per carry. We can't run the ball against them effectively. W...

Re: @ NAU Gamethread

Why the confusion? Two time outs already in addition to the ugly offensive play. The Redbird D is dominating the line and strong elsewhere.
