Re: Mr. Robinson

... Robinson needs to make them forget about Coprich ... maybe not as quick or as fast, but close enough so that is power and 220 lb weight will be a factor. Coprich was hard to tackle because of his speed and maneuvering. Robinson is very close to that, but more powerful .. that is what we saw aga...

Re: Defensive Philosophy Chage: QB pressure and Picks ???

Podkulski has been practicing again. He may or may not be ready for some game action, but I think he was likely the first team DL before he was injured. In any even, I expect him in the DL rotation very soon. I noticed Romeo McKnight started against WIU and is listed first team this week ahead of Ma...

Re: Let's talk WR group ...

Through 5 games we've completed 84 passes.

61 of those are to the starting 3 WRs and the starting TE.

19 are to RBs (Robinson, Burch, Smith, Hatfield, Adams).

Only 4 are to the second string WRs and TE.

Re: Football Stadium Naming Rights

I find the CEFCU thing in San Jose, CA, to be rather curious - but, the San Jose State Stadium is also used by an MLS Soccer team. Cefcu took over a California credit union several years ago and branded it Cefcu. I assume they bought naming rights to build name recognition in a new market, and got ...

Re: Football Stadium Naming Rights

So what is stopping ISU from having Hancock having a company name placed on the stadium? UCF home field, that is campus , is Spectrum Stadium. State Farm has name rights on both college football and basketball..With that money, the horseshoe could be done. And an indoor practice facility. So let's ...

Re: ISU vs WIU game time.....sets go REDBIRDS!!

Was in attendance yesterday, a good day for football (not necessarily for tailgating tho!). A few thoughts: ........................................ Lacale London was one of the fireplugs in the middle of the WIU D line, who made it tough for quite a while. Wasn't he one of ours at one point? Did h...

NDSU ultimately hammered UNI. But SDSU just escaped Indiana State in OT.

Re: Forecast Improved for WIU game ... show up fans !!!

I sat through the whole game in a short sleeve shirt. It started to sprinkle once, just enough that some put on rain gear but I didn't. Actually it was very sunny at times...enough that the lady in front of me bought a Redbird baseball cap. The tailgate two hours earlier was another story. That was ...

First week of MVFC action

UNI is shutting out Indiana State. It's difficult to tell how good UNI might be or how bad the Trees are. UNI just controlling both lines of scrimmage, letting the Panthers run easily while Indiana State can't consistently move the ball.

I don't know if the altitude at NAU had all that much to do with it. I looked into altitude effects a bit and found that the same few things kept popping up. Its a bigger deal for aerobic and endurance sports than for football. High altitude teams remind their opponents of the local elevation with ...

Couple random thoughts... ...there is a ton of discussion on their forum about establishing their run game against us. Was a talking point for their coach on his weekly show, they say ... this game might act as a maturity yardstick for Davis. I hope he doesn’t force things Echoed by Spack this week...

Re: OT/Former Redbird: Red Boots Resigns

Looking back, he never won over a significant part of the Redbird faithful. I know some fans who thought very highly of his contributions in the community, and attendance hit peaks during his time that we no longer approach. His W-L record was the reason he was fired, and Spack has clearly elevated ...

Re: Redbirds - Rams predictions

This is the game where we find out how much pressure our new defensive approach and players can put on the QB. Because if they are able to throw I think we're in trouble. CSU has tall receivers (6-4, 6-0, 6-6, and 6-2 TE) that will present some matching up challenges for us. From their stats so far,...

Re: Interesting read on UNI football and the change in the Conference

28-20 is UNI's MVFC record in the past several seasons. I do wonder how much longer they'll be patient with Farley. They haven't really been up and down, they've just been consistently 7-4 or so...not where they used to be. It seems to me that they often fail to finish as high in the standings as th...

Re: EIU game comments

A couple of quick thoughts: I’m worried about our kicking game. Two kicks out of bounds and a missed field goal. If a game comes down to special teams, it freaks me out a little bit. And I'm not sure about our kicking range...accurately that is. I could see that we have kickers who can get it in th...

Re: Here is the problem with ISU and the community

ECU was frequently mentioned as an example for ISU football two decades ago. I agree that compared to other places this size and with this level of income, the community doesn't fully support the Redbird athletics programs. But it is better than it used to be, for football at least. The hard part is...
