Re: Brian Adams leaves team

I’m pretty sure we expected him to be RB1 in the future so this stings a bit. I wish him well. Competitive kids sometimes want to move to assure themselves of playing time. I never saw enough to expect anything specific. Under new rules that he could play in a few games and still redshirt, I think ...

Job well done by Mr. Smith. Degree in hand, nothing wrong with looking for a place to get some playing time. Best wishes to him.

Re: Two Deep Offense

Pretty sure Bones replaced Hirsch for the last few games last year. Will be interesting to see how that plays out. Solomon simply has more experience, so I think you're right there. This does look really solid. We'll use multiple receivers at times, as well as two tight ends. Those guys can all expe...

Re: Roster changes

Spack might want to start thinking about why more RS SRs are opting out of program once they graduate. Coincidence or trend ? This is a trend only in that the rule permitting grad transfers isn't very old. Just a couple seasons ago his options would have been to quit playing or to play as a Redbird...

Re: Purdue's Jeff Brohm to Louisville

Uiuc's AD is smart to extend Smith. It helps with recruiting right now, and likely lowers the future buyout so a change could still be made next year if desired. The buyout was too pricey for a change now according to many reports, so he was going to be the coach again in 2019 anyway. The Illini hav...

Re: Indiana St.

Complete collapse for the season. Time to focus on developing the younger guys. Preserve redshirts that can still be saved. We look good in a team photo, but we clearly and repeatedly have been manhandled and out physicalled by other teams. I don't know if it's recruiting, development, or coaching, ...

Re: Indoor Facility News

I have come to the conclusion over the last couple of years that there is little appreciable difference between the MVFC and non-P5 FBS football. Competition level, financials, exposure for the university. Any ROI benefit you want to look at. This should be interesting ;) But that is IMHO. We share...

We can't convert on any 3rd downs.
We can't stop them much of the time on their 3rd downs.

One hour to game time and I'm doing some fall cleanup outside, only to hear the ISU Alma Mater played by a church carrilon a few blocks away. I'm taking this as a good sign!

Re: Indoor Facility News

While I understand the desire to promote progress toward this goal, in the fundraising world of higher ed they don't typically announce a specific project as a campaign until they are most of the way there. This one may be different, as it is readily acknowledged as a need.

Re: The List so far 2019

Our recruit from Madison, Jeremiah Jordan, who's listed as a LB and also was on the recruiting sites earlier, was named first team All Big Eight Conference as a DB (listed at 6'2 205 lbs.). So not sure if he's already made the move to DB or if he'll put on some lbs. and stay at LB for Spack, or wha...

Re: ISU vs NDSU....GAME ON.. LET'S ROCK THE DOME!!

NDSU is the better team and they're playing like it. But this game should be 14-7. We had 1st and goal from the 5 and threw it twice...why? That INT was a killer. Pound the f***ing ball there. You're down two scores, not in a position to get cute, need to get on the board! Defense gave up a good am...

Re: NDSU game 10/20

Our wins have hidden our penalties. We need to play cleaner as opportunities to make a big play are few, and we can't afford for penalties to take away any of them. I see this as a tight game. I do think we'll run, but we'll have less success than usual. I also think we'll slow down NDSUs runners. W...

Re: Coach Spack show

He was emerging as a likely starter next to Ridgeway until he got hurt. He did play multiple snaps last week and he will play tomorrow. He'll play in the bigger DL spot as opposed to a quicker, lighter Defensive End. NDSU is essentially the same size we are on the lines. They are, however, generally...

Re: Mr. Robinson

... Robinson needs to make them forget about Coprich ... maybe not as quick or as fast, but close enough so that is power and 220 lb weight will be a factor. Coprich was hard to tackle because of his speed and maneuvering. Robinson is very close to that, but more powerful .. that is what we saw aga...

Re: Defensive Philosophy Chage: QB pressure and Picks ???

Podkulski has been practicing again. He may or may not be ready for some game action, but I think he was likely the first team DL before he was injured. In any even, I expect him in the DL rotation very soon. I noticed Romeo McKnight started against WIU and is listed first team this week ahead of Ma...

Re: Let's talk WR group ...

Through 5 games we've completed 84 passes.

61 of those are to the starting 3 WRs and the starting TE.

19 are to RBs (Robinson, Burch, Smith, Hatfield, Adams).

Only 4 are to the second string WRs and TE.

Re: Football Stadium Naming Rights

I find the CEFCU thing in San Jose, CA, to be rather curious - but, the San Jose State Stadium is also used by an MLS Soccer team. Cefcu took over a California credit union several years ago and branded it Cefcu. I assume they bought naming rights to build name recognition in a new market, and got ...
