Re: So how are we feeling now?

:text-+1: As much as I hate to say it, this team will probably be better just by addition by subtraction. The Chris Duhon experiment was... bad. I was REALLY excited about that signing, but I just don't think he gave a shit about the college game or the young men he was working with at all. Further...

Re: So how are we feeling now?

I feel the same way about ISU as I do my Aces. On paper I can see the talent and depth. How they gel and how rusty are the transfers will tell the story. I think Boyd is going to be the surprise of the bunch. I see ZC and him making for a pretty solid set of guards. The new assistant coaches probab...

Re: So how are we feeling now?

After what I have to say is among the most incredible three weeks in recent offseason program history, the lineup, staff and overall program looks suddenly, potentially very solid. Let's review: :text-+1: 5/1- Muller fills vacant assistant coaching opening with University of North Dakota HC, Brian ...

Re: One Scholarship Left

I understand the feeling after last season, use the scholarship on someone in the here and now. I also get the feeling of pocketing it for next year, as you do not want to give anyone currently on the roster the idea they are being recruited over, which just puts you in the problem of losing depth,...

Re: Ricky Torres

Nice player. I remember us recruiting him last year. But this makes zero sense to me. Dan is once again banking on receiving a favorable ruling on a petition to the NCAA. I’m still trying to remember which one of the previous ones have ever gone our way. This team needs immediate help at a critical...

Fill the scholarship if possible. Every year they think they have plenty of depth and every year we have 8 guys that can actually play due to various on and off court issues. Another PG would be a good idea.

Re: 2019 Interest - based on tweets and follows

:text-+1: I think they could panic and go back to Reeves if they don’t land the brothers. I believe they have three scholarships left as well. But especially with them losing RS freshman Currie this week, if Badgers don't get the Hauser's don't they really have to come up with some size? Guards the...

Re: Paradise Jam Matchups

So let me get this straight. I'm guessing with a win here or loss there, it's going to be possible to face Valpo, correct? Like day 3? And then face them twice during the season. And then the possibility of facing them during the Valley Tourney in March? So possible to play Valpo 4 times? Ugh. Isn'...

I'm hearing ISU is the front runner but he's going to take a couple more visits.
Gotta think the asst coach turmoil, if true, would add some doubt in any recruit’s mind.

Re: Matt Hein leaving

Best of luck to Matt wherever he lands. As far as I'm concerned, he's a Redbird for life. I always felt he was punching above his weight class, but he gets all my respect for showing zero fear in the league and in the face of criticism from our desperate fan base. He also did some things on the cou...

This is a great get as an assistant coach. Guy led their transition from D2 to D1. He led them into the Big Sky then had to swallow them getting pushed to Summit. Can't blame him for wanting to bolt. Has beaten Drake, Bradley, Northern Iowa, etc in the past.

I agree. I see this as a great x and o hire. Former head coaching experience at D1 level is helpful. I know when coach Walter at UE was hired, he hired 2 former head coaches on his staff, which has been helpful to him.

IMO - if we can sell ISU over SIU then we're F'd
We have a much better facility - proximity to everywhere in the state pretty much.
Academically we're better and financially we're more sound

Re: Signing day

I don't buy it. There are so many basketball players in this state for all of the programs to be strong. The challenge is can Muller and staff develop Illinois relationships/credibility and establish their own state of Illinois pipeline . Good question. I hope the answer is yes. 7 years and countin...

Re: Dana Ford about to make a splash

Yep. In the Missouri State game (I think about 1:40 left in the game) Senior Keyshawn Evans commits a stupid reach-in foul in the backcourt with the Birds up 6 (Dixon makes both free throws). With about 7 seconds left in the game, and Birds up 5, Senior (and 1st team All MVC) Phil Fayne fouls Webst...

:text-+1: This board is crazy. During the season his shot was broke and he couldn’t play any defense. Now that he is transferring we are going to regret it. Jefferson was a great shooter but didn’t any give effort half the time he was on the court. Yes, it would be great to have that scoring, but he...

Re: College Basketball Coaching Carousel

 So the new move is to hire former NBA players with "some" asst coaching experience at the NBA or AAU level . . . interesting to see how these experiments work out. :text-+1: I believe that approach is driven by the mindset of ties and their ability to draw recruits. A good x/o’s coaching sta...
