Gassman missed at least 4 layups
:text-+1:
2 layups and a couple of short jumpers but he battled. Doesn’t have the talent but has heart. The guy he replaced had two dunks and two rebounds.

Hopefully we play hard at both ends for the entire game. Hopefully we come out of the game healthy also.

Re: ISU Defense

This is the single most concerning thing to me. We're soft. We all want to play offense, but nobody wants to work on the defensive end. Someone really needs to step up and lock down. Our 2-3 is better than our man... but every 2-3 has man principles. If you can't deny ball, box out, etc... you'll g...

Re: Redbirds @ UIC - 12/5 6PM

Balls to the wall. If you foul out, you foul out. To bring anything less than your best isn't even acceptable in JR High or HS. If it's conditioning, you're not sprinting all 40 minutes, There are plenty of times to catch your breath. In the NHL, Chelios would log 7-8 shifts at a time...way harder ...

Re: Frustration

I agree that it is not this team's fault that we haven't danced for 20 years, and they don't deserve to be held accountable for the past 2 decades of coming up short. That said, if they win the tourney in St. Louis, they will also not be deserving of the heightened level of celebration ad adulation...

 There is only one thing that matters with this data.....1. Bid. League. Valley teams have not won enough non-con games that have mattered most. SIU loses to Buffalo and UMass. ISU loses to Belmont and Georgia Loyola loses to Furman and BC Bradley loses to UIC UNI loses to Old Dominion, UT Ar...

Re: It Is Time to Make a Coaching Change...

You really think we have not been "good"? We have almost always been "good". If good means winning more games than you lose. If good means the number of winning seasons, and the relative number of very few losing seasons. The number of finishes in the top of the conference. We lead the league in co...

Re: "recruitment" of ... assistant coaches (impact of staff on program)

I agree with the numbers of JSBNHBE1BIRDS. But the coaching retention is a more serious matter, in my opinion. Lack of retention of assistant coaches is a symptom of success. What assistant coach is content with not trying to advance his career? Would we want Dan to hire people that are happy being...

Re: "recruitment" of ... assistant coaches (impact of staff on program)

I have wondered for some time about the coaching turnover. I realize that goes with the territory of mid-major programs. However, I have to believe it goes deeper than simply having to find the best available. What about the stability of the mind-set of the entire program. Especially the young guys ...

Re: It Is Time to Make a Coaching Change...

The games, and life in general, are more fun when you enjoy the wins and realize there are worse things than losing or narrowly winning a game you didn't play or coach in. How much fans demand from their team has no impact on how much they get. Life and basketball seasons are a roller coaster. Work...

Re: It Is Time to Make a Coaching Change...

:( Dan isn't going to get fired. There is zero money to do it and Larry/Dietz don't make him suspend his players when they get arrested at record pace so they won't fire him. However, there are a lot of things concerning about Muller. I will be the first to admit, I am a big Muller fan, but losing p...
