Re: College Basketball Coaching Carousel

And stop bringing up money. As has been noted here and many other places, Porter came INTO coaching loaded. The guy has been extremely comfortable financially his whole life. So some team offering a guy with 3 million in the bank an extra $250K to deal with extreme scrutiny in a new place does not m...

Re: College Basketball Coaching Carousel

I doubt he takes it. I mean, is St. John's really an upgrade over Loyola? Yes, you are essentially the go-to school for New York players that want to stay home, but that is kind of a trash market for basketball. We talk about the cupboard being bare, they really really are there now. He would have ...

Re: 2019 Thomasville (GA) C Titus Wright

Guys of his size create absolute anarchy in the Valley. Krutwig isn't particularly great at anything, but him being a piece of heavy machinery with decent feet make him arguably the most difficult post player to defend in the league. If you can get this guy (who is still growing, mind you) at 6'9.5'...

Re: "Indoor Facility ... #1 priority" ... AD Larry Lyons

Here is Hancock stadium that most us wouldn't mind seeing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrxHGO-20Ig https://usajaguars.com/galleries/?gallery=1870 To be honest, seeing as though South Alabama has only been around since 1963, I would expect Illinois State to have a much more impressive facility t...

Re: "Indoor Facility ... #1 priority" ... AD Larry Lyons

I would HOPE that if they are going to build a $30M+ building for practice that they are smart about it and just tear down Horton and the west bleachers and kill two birds with one stone. There is no more logical place on campus to have a facility like that AND then you can simply plop a press box o...

Re: Jefferson Transferring

I'm guessing that coach has seen that the planning that went into last season's team went poorly. I understand that JJ was a...struggling defender (almost all CC transfers are because you don't make the JC AA teams by playing defense), but he was BY FAR the best shooter on the team and the only one...

Re: OT: Former Players

I agree with that Minor league football idea. NFL teams carry a bunch of 'developmental' players that they could loan out to these clubs. Let the NFL team decide how many of these players they want to retain the rights to. As long as they want to pay the increased salaries then let them. It's a win...

Re: OT: Former Players

You gotta treat minor league football like you treat minor league baseball or Hockey. Do it EXTREMELY cheaply and in alignment with NFL franchises. Do not try to sell to a TV audience, try to sell to a local market for ticket sales and essentially have the NFL fund the whole damn thing. Without buy ...

Re: Barry Hinson out at SIU

And ISU fired that Final 4 coach. Brilliant. Good grief dude. He should have been fired. Moser went 22-50 in conference play in 4 years as head coach. They were a Thursday team 3 times in those four years and dead last in the conference twice. Eleven years later, he went to the final four on his fi...

Re: Two Deep Offense

Hope #25 comes back hungrier than ever ... he has to be thinking about NFL draft and how much our offense depended on him. And now Markel Smith is gone. We'll see of Proctor makes a good #2 to take some of load off Robinson plus be a change of pace guy to give defenses something different to game a...

Re: Copeland, Hein out 2019

I never understood why players that sit a year before coming somewhere would then volunteer to sit a year to go somewhere else. Unless, of course, for the grad transfer rule, but is Copeland there? Hein I sorta figured would be going to get his MBA anyway. I mean, he is paying his own way as it is. ...

Re: Arch Madness Talk

Boy... seeing Bradley win this tells me exactly how beatable everyone in the conference was this year and shines a huge spotlight on how bad we must've been to be a Thursday team in this league. It hurts a ton to know that every team in the league not named Drake or Bradley was having an average dow...

Re: 4 seed

I think this shows how much a culture change can quickly help a program. It was, what, about 2 years ago right now that Barb Smith was rolling into St. Louis with a 7-22 record. The Lady Redbirds are now skipping Thursday and sitting on a 18-11 record and will be looking for revenge against Bradley....

Re: Worst Performace Ever?

The birds were down 20 in the first half and fought back as best they could. This wasn't the worst performance ever. ISU had 20 loss teams as recently as 04. This isnt even the worst loss to Drake in tournament history.

I'm just glad this butt season is over with.

Re: vs Evansville (in St. Louis), 3/7, 8:30 PM, MVC-TV [FSMW+/NBCSC]

Okay, so I sat on last nights game and I came away with the following: PROS - We won the game and did so with MY sitting on 4 fouls for effectively the entire last quarter of the game. -Phil Fayne was off offensively and still dropped a double double plus 3 blocks. If we win again, it is because of ...

Re: vs Evansville (in St. Louis), 3/7, 8:30 PM, MVC-TV [FSMW+/NBCSC]

So ISU is bad, Evansville is dreadful. There is NO WAY they should be within 15 the way they are playing. But, ISU is playing one of the worst games I've ever seen.
