"As of right now, I cant say there is anything I am looking for other than style of play. If that system is going to fit me and make me a better player," Payton said. "And also, if the coaches are going to invest in me and make sure that Im the player that I need to be." ME ME ME ME I I I I How abo...

Re: WOAH!

For chrissake, suck it up buttercups. Now this is a trap game? Not if we're a legit playoff team. Or a fair-to-midling Valley team. :text-+1: This whole "watch out for St X argument" shows how low some fans expectations are as respects to ISU Redbird football. They are afraid to say that ISU should...

Re: WOAH!

These guys on the other sideline are smaller and there are less of them, but they are legit football players. Yup. Plus, its a good football program. In saying that, we should slosh 'em and we'll all be pizzed if we don't. But if we come in with a sorry attitude, they could throw snake eyes and nex...

Wouldn't it be better to play NIU than Quincy? Is NIU that bad?
agree NIU is a no brainer vs playing a Quincy. Little to no value in playing an EIU or WIU as they are not much different than playing a Quincy as respects to fan interest/fan drawing power.

Re: Never too early... 18-19 Non-conf schedule

I mean the students in Section D are as close as any fan other than the Doug Collins seats courtside. Seriously, they are two steps from the court. The moat stops anyone from being close to court except the four corners. Ask Andy, Joe, KT, Cindy or any of our posters who were students at Redbird ho...

Re: Never too early... 18-19 Non-conf schedule

ChiRedbirdfan, how would you specifically get the students more involved nearer to the court? I have been to a good number of these venues. What have I missed? A couple have the students a little closer. I am just looking for those ideas that are getting them more involved that our students. locati...

Re: Never too early... 18-19 Non-conf schedule

OK ChiRedbirdfan, what, specifically would you do create a good game aptmoshere? Yeah, I have been to some P5 games. I have also been to just about every Valley venue, plus several minor and major league baseball, football and basketball game. What's the silver bullets we are missing? as stated ear...

Re: Never too early... 18-19 Non-conf schedule

All the talk about donors, Chicago, student seating, All this hand-wringing over stuff like that. I think our athletics department is pretty much on all the best practices. I go see other college games and pro games. I have not yet come back with the "silver bullet" or two that would make a signifi...

Re: Never too early... 18-19 Non-conf schedule

We have some very generous donors but no “whales” who commit 7 figures to the program on a regular basis or a collective of people who do so. Your top 500-750 donors, if not top 1,000 will pay more for season tickets than any students will pay in fees. I am the biggest advocate of what the students...

Re: Never too early... 18-19 Non-conf schedule

Donors won't give up their view in favor of students. Also, the students have great seats for Football. I was in school when the student section was moved behind the opposing team, talk about an atmosphere. That was fun. What donors? Look at actual ISU athletic donations and the conclusion is easil...

Re: Never too early... 18-19 Non-conf schedule

I wonder how many more students would come if they had better seating offered to them? I'm not sure attendance would increase that much. The students that care about basketball are already coming imo. Personally, I'd love to sit in those seats in that little section right above the band, but that's...

Re: Never too early... 18-19 Non-conf schedule

I think we can be pretty confident that with the team we should have, an SEC team coming to town on a Saturday night should draw in the 9K range. If not, that's sad. What is sad is that ISU students, whom fund AT LEAST 70% percent or more of all athletics expenses, have the worst seating for men’s ...

Re: Never too early... 18-19 Non-conf schedule

Our home slate is pretty strong. These two games on Saturdays with students on campus are awful nice. Should draw big. 6,000 big? If luck 7,000. Still only 70% filled. I think we can be pretty confident that with the team we should have, an SEC team coming to town on a Saturday night should draw in...

well unfortunately all you had to do is check the local blono police blotter for Yarbrough news. Let's hope he has matured and there are no future Yarbrough threads that are not basketball related.

Gotta say the license plate cover thing sounds kind of sketchy. Especially when the poster said he would take it off on the spot.
Anyone who would put a “tinted license plate cover” on their car deserves a ticket

Re: 2019 - Chris Payton, 6-7/205, SF, Bloomington, IL

I think the point might be that none of these scouting services are actively seeing him play since he had already committed. But they will see him play again this summer. That is the point I am trying to get across is that the major period and most meaningful part of the "AAU season"(for lack of be...

Re: 2019 - Chris Payton, 6-7/205, SF, Bloomington, IL

Do the numbers matter at this point? I believe there is something other than what the kid can do for the program going on. Surely someone knows something? I don't know if the rankings matter per say, as I think big schools have already found him (hence, imo, why he decomitted). But, generally speak...
