Re: Two Deep Offense

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, guys. I was looking at the two deep and decided it was time for another stupid question. I hope others get something out of this. What's the difference between the Jack and a DE? I see our two deep lists the defensive line as DE - NG - DT - Jack. Now, I like jargon...

Re: Spring Practice is Here, Spack Comments

good to hear, but Spack has been overly optimistic before .. he's also been dead on accurate (before 5-6 2013 season, and before 2014 Natty Run). Have to agree we are deep in a lot of places ... WR group is not yet proven, and clearly more unproven than any other group. Good to hear Davis came out s...

Re: Spring Practice is Here, Spack Comments

thanks for posting link ... I missed it. 3 comments that stood out for me. Great to hear there are 2 more OL he likes adding to group that returned 4 starters. Aaron Mends is rehabbing ... concerned he will have slow start, but have to get healthy first. Zeke will take over for Mathews .. can't wait...

Re: Two Deep Offense

Spring practice begins in just two days (17th). Serious football fans will want to check out THE REAL two-deep on GoRedbirds for the beginning of spring. https://s3.amazonaws.com/sidearm.sites/goredbirds.com/documents/2019/3/14/19_Spring_Camp_Notes.pdf It always interesting to see what I got right ...

Re: Tristan Smith leaves team

Well Leonard turned the Illini down when they offered him the QB coach job, so he isn't coming here for anything less than OC, which is also unlikely Putting aside economics, which is probably your main point ... I think the our needle is pointing higher than Illini. I also think we would beat Illi...

Re: Tristan Smith leaves team

as good as our track record is for finding RBs, we have really struggled to find good HS QBs. Kolbe was by all accounts a great get coming out of HS and got off to very promising start in 2016, but faded in 2017 .. IMO .. under OC Dicken's mis-handling of position and offense. Matt Brown was not Sp...

Re: Tristan Smith leaves team

okay, my head is spinning here . . . . is Hatfield still here or did he leave too? Back to QB for him? Broadnax pulled the trigger too early. I get why these guys get itchy, but you know, hang in there, stay with it, your time will come!! Maybe . . . ;) they will need a 3rd stringer to run scout te...

Anyone keeping track of the Bachelor? My wife says it's a embarrassing shitshow this season. some younger ladies at work keep me up to speed .. but the fence jump was very impressive. Not sure why he never used that move as an edge rusher at ISU ... its killer impressive move ... Richard Dent did s...

Re: Two Deep Offense

Hope #25 comes back hungrier than ever ... he has to be thinking about NFL draft and how much our offense depended on him. And now Markel Smith is gone. We'll see of Proctor makes a good #2 to take some of load off Robinson plus be a change of pace guy to give defenses something different to game an...

Re: New Parking configuration?

as long as I'm still within 100 feet of a power outlet for my tailgate, I'm not gonna sweat this one. I know I can just buy another extension cord, but then I have to duke it out with that many more drunk Redbirds trying to use same outlet .. electricity and alcohol are not a good mix if things get ...

Swaine Honored With NFF Mental Toughness Award

ok, so this one slipped by unnoticed by me and most of us probably. To be honest I assumed this was just another of a bunch random awards that society tends to hand out like a pez dispenser. But I just read up on this this ... very cool story. https://goredbirds.com/news/2019/2/19/football-swaine-ho...

Re: Jack Kelly

He can set the edge and get after the passer. Would like to see him turn hips hips. Everything he was asked to do was straight ahead. Nice job blocking at FB in the pistol. http://www.hudl.com/profile/6068957/JACK-KELLY Spack will find him a place. He's a good athlete so he got that going for him. ...

So let's talk football ... found a good article from right after his verbal commitment in Sept 2018. Athletic, multi-dimensional player, played both sides of ball, 3 eyar starter, also played baseball and hockey. Only player at his HS to ever be elected captain as a JR. His dad was FBS level wrestle...

..... social media, 24/7/365 news, zero privacy and constant connectivity it has to be much more difficult for young people ...... this x 1000 .. to the point, he had to set record straight very publicly for something that should have been otherwise a private matter. Incredibly mature handling of an incredibly difficult situation. How many 18 year olds would be able to deal with his issue in this manner ?? Very very fewI IMO... best wishes dealing with this !! Sounds like he's off to a great start.
