Re: WOAH!

If Alabama were playing Normal Community High School, you shouldn't expect an 80 point win. 80 points is a SHIT LOAD of points. My argument was not that SXU will give ISU a game, but that they are more than one-legged Civil War vets just standing between our guys and the endzone. They are similarly...

Re: Durkac Fired

I hear that Rodney Kellar is rather upset his son got fired. From everything I know, he was a terrible pitching coach. Did not know much about mechanics - would often just tell the pitchers to throw to certain spots - instead of providing instruction on what it takes to be able to pitch and hit tho...

Re: Durkac Fired

I have heard a rumor that Mike Current will become the new HC, once South Carolina is done with their season at the College World Series. He was connected here before Kingston but still worked his way up. He is tied to the area and has built up even more national credibility. He is in my top-3 for ...

Re: WOAH!

"Honestly, how does this game even get scheduled?" Probably what most P5 schools say when they seen an FCS team on their slate. Would I prefer a better opponent, hell yes. That said, get the W and stay healthy. P5 can count FCS games towards D1 bowl wins. We cannot count D2,, NAIA, etc. Granted Day...

Re: WOAH!

except budgets are all relative to each sport .. football has way more coaches, schollies, and other expenses. My only point is .. I accept that we have budget constraints and that football is probably teetering into red last (scheduling issues above) and this year (speculating on coaches hired), a...

Re: VB to play Zero Non-Con Home Matches

They dropped the Redbird Classic which didn't draw very well. That looks like the only real change. I don't think they dropped it for good, just do it every other year. I'm guessing part of the reason is the huge decline in attendance we have had in VB. We were top 10 during the Morgan years and th...

Re: WOAH!

 Who obviously scheduled this game with no input and complete opposition from Coach Spack. Exactly Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk Might have blown his budget and leverage signing all those new coaches... we did really well on that front. Plus we blew budget last year with no FBS game, p...

Re: WOAH!

I'm responding to this in the game schedule thread, for the sake of trying to stay on topic. http://www.redbirdfan.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=837 duly and painfully noted ... 2-1 OOC equals 1-1 OOC ... 7-4 overall equals 6-4 overall. So we could finish 5-3 in MVFC (top 3 or 4) and possibly stay ...

Re: Game Times Announced

Brought over from another thread.... Assuming we go 2-1 in OOC to start season, our MVFC opener is on road against MoST ... yes we travel there again due to fact we can't play all 9 conf games ... but this the MUST win game that buys our defense 5 weeks to find itself and be ready for MVFC gauntlet...

Re: Ole Miss

Glad they honored their commitment. Speaks well of the new coach there. Honoring their commitment really only matters if they will be a quality win or a huge draw of fans (over 8k for a decent-sized gate). If not, taking a $150k-$200k buyout could have done more if we parlayed some of the money int...

Re: Street and Smith and Athlon

I’m gonna plant this here. https://athlonsports.com/college-football/projected-fcs-playoff-qualifiers-2018 Illinois State (at-large bid) The Redbirds may wind up lamenting a season-opening game against in-state NAIA member St. Xavier, which won't help their playoff resume. so frustrating. seriously...

VB to play Zero Non-Con Home Matches

I don’t count an exhibition against DePaul as a non-con home match, so it was disappointing to see we have no non-con home matches. I’m guessing VB season tickets should be pretty cheap as it is just the conference slate.

Re: Owen Miller to Padres in 3rd Round

Here is hoping he has a similar trajectory to Paul DeJong and Brock’s Stewart. However, development takes many different paths. It would be great to have several guys in the majors for a long time!

Re: Never too early... 18-19 Non-conf schedule

We have some very generous donors but no “whales” who commit 7 figures to the program on a regular basis or a collective of people who do so. Your top 500-750 donors, if not top 1,000 will pay more for season tickets than any students will pay in fees. I am the biggest advocate of what the students ...

Re: WOAH!

I wonder if this move is to give Kolbe more competition from the throwing aspect. Broadnax appeared to be able to run and could still see wildcat packages if he is not deemed the starter. However, if Kolbe is the starter and becomes injured again, we do not have someone who has shown they can really...

Re: Durkac Fired

This change was definitely needed. I hope they look at Nate Metzger. Created the Heartland CC Baseball program. Had over 400 wins with a .800 win %, familiar with the recruiting trail, and several of his players went on to become Redbirds. He’s now an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator at Wrigh...

Re: Durkac Fired

I'm guessing he had one year left on his deal. I heard nothing over the years about any extensions, and giving him one with downward progress would be a very bad decision that could lead to an AD or sport administrator being terminated. That would have been like giving Barb Smith an extension after ...

Re: Season so far

Are they young? Talked to one pretty knowledgeable person about it and he seems to think that Bo will get one more year as we knew it would be a building year last year and this year. Durkac took over for a coach who had great success here, who he worked for. We didn’t lose Kingston because he got ...

Re: Zenger out at Kansas

Zenger was responsible for the complete remodel of the baseball field and wanted to bring “tradition” to Redbird Arena by naming it Doug Collins Court. I might be mistaken but I believe he also lined up Don Franke to donate the $$$ for the statue of Collins/Robinson. Zenger did ALOT for ISU athleti...
