Re: Jefferson Transferring

Back to Jefferson - huge scorer for us until he got hurt. He could easily have been a 13-15 ppg scorer for us next year. He would have really had to work on his defensive game or just score more than he gave up. We have the guys on our roster who can take over these minutes but this will be a key re...

Re: Jefferson Transferring

Here is the question for the +/- fans: Would you rather have Fayne or Hein? Would you rather have Milik or Hein? If plus or minus matters to you who is the best player, your answer should be Hein, right? If it’s not, how much does it matter? I also question our stats sometimes in terms of say, turno...

Re: "Indoor Facility ... #1 priority" ... AD Larry Lyons

CU may have touched on why the Athletic Dept could reach the 34 million goal without having the money to put up an indoor practice facility. The money received so far could have been earmarked by donors for other purposes. The indoor facility may have been the dept. #1 priority at one time but surp...

Re: Brendan Mullins

i am very VERY interested to see who Muller gets to fill the spot. are there any realistic names floating around? cant tell if molinari is realistic or not. Per one of my sources Tim Anderson from Depaul is a name floating around. He has ties to Chicago and a good all around recruiter If he's inter...

Re: Brendan Mullins

Anthony Beane would be an interesting option, if he wants to come back to town a 3rd time. Mullins may decide to keep him on, but I wonder where he'd rather be - Normal or Carbondale. Can anyone confirm Mullins actually landed a recruit for us? I can't remember him being the lead recruiter on anyone...

Re: MO STATE SWEET 16? For real? Thanks for heads up.

Drake beat them at MSU as well. I figured they had re-established themselves as the team to beat again after that win, but MSU really showed up for the final. I know they lose only 1 senior, so they'll probably be the team to beat next year. While MoST returns Alexa Willard, Drake returns both Becc...

Re: Elgin on MVC Scheduling

1.) Our athletic department relies on MBB revenue - from season ticket sales and WSF “donations” from those ticket sales. They need to fill a certain number of games in addition to conference games to charge more for these tickets. Chicago State on the other hand makes more for taking their bus tour...

Re: College Basketball Coaching Carousel

Oates saw the handwriting on the wall. He probably wasn’t going to duplicate the last two years at Buffalo. Sad for Buffalo for losing their coach. Sad for us because we can’t get rid of ours. There you go Coach Muller. Go the NCAA 3 times, win a few tournament games and you too could land a gig at...

Re: Mullins - SIU

Kind of a binary profession. Not a lot of in between in coaching tenures. That’s why coaching tenures end, because they were great or disasters. I can think of one that is in between...7 years, no NCAA Tournaments, long term deal. I 100 percent get what you are saying. Anyway, to stay on topic this...

Re: So UNI gets an NIT bid and we don't?

Unfortunately we play in a conference that is about half in on supporting their WBB teams and half not. Drake is hot right now and has a stable of good players. Hopefully they can keep Baranczyk at the head of their program, although she may end up going the way of Robin Pingeton if she gets an offe...

Re: Lyons on bribery admission scandal

Taking the cheating test score situations out, which adds a whole level of complexity to fraud, do colleges do the same thing when they recruit a player’s sibling/relative/friend with a scholarship when that person is not actually an athlete “qualified” for that scholarship? Is that a bribe? What if...

Re: Lyons on bribery admission scandal

ISU Athletics representatives have the ability to give away tickets to people. There are a variety of reasons, but they could include: 1.) Someone backs out of using tickets. 2.) Trying to get someone to a game to see the atmosphere and hopefully become a sponsor or STH. 3.) They have friends/relati...

Re: Italy in August

If there is ever a time to use extra practices and some new competition, it’s this group. They’ll have the summer to work together and get to have some great bonding time too. This is also a good recruiting tool to announce now as we look at potentially signing a JUCO or grad transfer.

I wonder why President Dietz isn't spending tens of millions of new dollars to improve Athletic Department facilities. For those of you suggesting that he doesn't give a rat's ass about Redbird sports, do you have inside information on which that conclusion is based? I might not be vain enough to s...

Re: Derrick Cook juco PG

I'd be interested in why he missed so many games. Injury or attitude related? Either way.... i know taking risks is important but we've had enough injury prone players lately. It appears the games he is missing stats, the whole team is. Ex. 10/29/18 vs Shorter, nothing is listed for him. There is a...

Barry Hinson out at SIU

Perhaps one of the few, if only coaches, to be out twice in StL. Barry Hinson “resigns” from SIU citing an arrangement he would step down if he didn’t make the tourney.

My guess like Denver Johnson got $250k after he “resigned” from ISU is that Barry will receive his $175 buyout.

EVille is 11-20 and are probably among the worst teams ISU has played at all in the last 5 years. This should be an absolute ass whopping. I stand by the whole get a BIG lead early and them sit all your starters so they can keep fresh legs for the weekend. ISU- 71 Eville- 53 And have we whooped any...

Re: Coaching Candidates

One thing to say about Murray State coaches, it goes back to Ron Greene (left there in 84-85) since they had a coach not make the tourney. BTW, Greene was 119-78 in 7 seasons with 3 NIT appearances and 3 regular season titles. Greene then left to join the Valley back home at Indiana State. Steve New...
