Re: Indoor Facility News

Sure they can. They can go skelly. They know the routes. They know the coverages. They should understand leverage on a slot. High school kids go to 7 on 7 leagues in Wisconsin all summer long. Coaches can't be out there with them. They get better. Ok, then tell them to go out and do it. There's not...

BAM! How many times this year were QB/WR's not on the same page on option routes? :angry-banghead:
That's a valid concern but you're not going to solve that problem with partial team workouts in Jan, Feb, March. You need full team practices with coaches present.

Re: Indoor Facility News

If you don’t think facilities matter, ask ISU admins why they are working to create a really nice gateway to campus at the Bone Student Center and why the campus rec center was a big deal. It’s the same as the luxury apartments they’re throwing up. It helps recruit student-athletes with the added p...

Re: Indoor Facility News

The argument about having to practice in crappy weather because you play the games in crappy weather does not seem like a good one to me. If it is so important to practice in brutal winter weather to simulate game conditions why do so many programs build indoor facilities...temp or permanent? There...

Re: Brady Davis

I always wondered how Brady would deal with the cold weather up here, him being from the south. I doubt he ever played in those conditions before. Terry Bradshaw grew up in Louisiana and went to Louisiana Tech. He had a NFL Hall of Fame career with the Pittsburg Steelers. Brett Favre grew up in Mis...

Re: Brady Davis

I thought we solved the problem of a place to throw the ball in the other thread about the indoor facility...toss the ball in the bitter cold, snow, slush, sleet and freezing rain at Hancock! Don't let 10" or 12" of snow impede your development you bunch of spoiled millennial sissies! An indoor fac...

Watched his HUDL .Man the kid can hit. Boogers were flyin. He played the Sam in their 4-3 but I could see him coming off the edge for sure. Per your suggestion I watched his HUDL. I can't say I saw any boogers flyin'. At one point I thought I saw some saliva, runny snot or other non-specified bodil...

Signing Date 12/19

It's now less than two weeks until the first signing date (December 19) for football. We have an impressive group verbally committed. I'm excited about Tennessee running back Xavier Myers and hopeful that our tailback tradition will continue. It will also be interesting to see who plans on arriving ...

Great post fourth. I would have just said that Matthews was our leading tackler and the defense was good. You put the meat on those bones.

MVFC All-Conference

https://valley-football.org/documents/2018/11/25//2018_All_Conference_Teams.pdf?id=59 The 2018 Valley All-conference football teams have been announced. Robinson and Schnell were 1st team selections. Those were obvious. Luther Kirk was a bit of a surprise as a 1st selection at Safety but 5 INT's wil...

Re: OT: Former Players

That INT may look like good fortune but Harris has always come up with big plays. Lots of DT's could knock that pass down but Harris made the catch and ended the drive - and the game.

Where does it say that the Lovie Smith 2-year extension is guaranteed? Pic of the signed contract on-line or it didn't happen. Just another desperate AD engaged in damage control until a change can be made.

Re: 2019 Wish List and Expectations

There's a silver lining to the 6-5 record when it comes to pursuing the wish list. This is an important time of year for recruiting. The P5 FBS schools are wrapping things up and there are always outstanding players out there that aren't spoken for. It takes time to weed through and find them and br...

Re: SEASON predictions

Chi-Bird wins the season prediction thread. I missed badly by expecting 8-3 but almost every else did too except for a couple of Kool-Aid addicts. Anytime I miss a season prediction by 2 games it becomes a self-requirement that I get at least 12 hours of seclusion and meditation designed to facilita...

Re: 2019 NFL Draft

If the Rodgers/Walker story happened as written here I don't know how that would be an attitude problem on his part. As a free agent you are only going to get a few chances to impress. If the QB doesn't throw to you when you're open then you aren't going to make the team so you might as well speak up.

Re: 2019 Wish List and Expectations

I see WR as our biggest need. Schnell will leave a void and there was a drop off after him. Edgar is a building block and Haley will likely stay ahead of a crop of promising freshmen but I think we need to bring in someone that can play right away (FBS or Juco). He needs to be hard to cover and he n...

Re: From #7 to #1

Remember Brian Adams is the speedy freshman that arrived on scholarship, not Brown. Adams only played in one game so he wasn't saving a redshirt by not playing against YSU. I'm not sure why he didn't play but it's a cause for concern. I think RB will always be a high turnover position.

Re: 2019 NFL Draft

Schnell has a slight chance. We'll see how he does in workouts. I've always maintained that scouts put way too much emphasis on measureables and combine numbers. For me the best receiver of the Spack era isn't Cam Meredith or Spencer Schnell. It's Tyrone Walker and I'll always believe that he could ...

Re: Defensive Philosophy Chage: QB pressure and Picks ???

Our defensive schemes seem to have shifted over the Spack era from trying to make the huge defensive plays for loss, with downside being guys not always staying home (containment) and going for big play that might not turn out .. sort of over-pursuing a big play can lead to a near sack or big TFL, ...
