And that St. Francis team was coached by..... Gordie Gillespie coaching legend and grandfather of our women's basketball coach Kristen Gillespie.
Interesting, I wonder if Kristen was at that game. It's a little late but I would still welcome her to post an analysis. :D

Re: WOAH!

There is no reason to "run it up". I think ISU gets a 5 TD lead and lays off the gas pedal. I'd be surprised if you didn't see 2 or 3 QB in the game, though, along with quite a few freshmen lined up by the 4th quarter. You should never "expect" 50+ points, much less a margin of victory of more than...

I live in Decatur and I shop at Kroger. They also had Lindy's out as well. They aren't giving us much love.
Thanks. I saw Street and Smith's at Meijer's today and many years of habit took over. ;)

Re: WOAH!

My bad Timmy, I misread your post. I thought you had said that Beathard said Winkler was better than Roberson rather than "some saying". I've heard that many people are saying it You should start a new thread if you're going to reopen the "Some vs. Many" debate. Everyone's going to want to weigh in...

I bought both publications today and we are getting some love. Athlon has us as #14 nationally and Street and Smith has us at #23
rdt99 - where did you find them? I've checked a couple places so far and Lindy's was the one on the shelf.

Re: WOAH!

Really folks, God bless the kid, but come on, he only played in 2 games in 3 years at Memphis, completed no passes. Stuff happens, I grant you that, there may be something to explain it all. But, a "big time get"??? Kolbe isn't THAT bad. He may get challenged, hopefully he will get pushed, but I'm ...

Re: WOAH!

It's difficult to know how much of Kolbe's year last year is on him, how much is on the line, and how much is on the co-offensive coordinators. I don't think it's all that much of a mystery. Look at Kolbe's stats for his soph and junior seasons. Same Kolbe, same OC's, different OL although I would ...

Re: WOAH!

That's a great call. Beathard will always do what's best for the team. Now I'm not sayin this kid is better than anyone on the roster. No one should. We have no clue until we see him play. But I distinctly remember some saying Winkler was better than Roberson. :o I'd be interested in his exact word...

Re: WOAH!

Six QBs on the roster this fall barring changes. Gotta imagine there may be a position change or transfer in there somewhere. Brady Davis almost never played at Memphis. Memphis lists 2015 as his freshman year and as a redshirt, but they also give him one game appearance. I don't really understand ...

Re: Zenger out at Kansas

Most won't give if you ask unless you have something specific in mind...a project or a plan. So much of this has already been covered. We had a plan with Bowman/Zenger and the response was weak and non-actionable even though our fundraising methods are very similar to other universities. We adverti...

Re: Street and Smith and Athlon

While I'm sure Street & Smith's magazine is far from perfect I think they have a good idea of what types of efforts produce results which ones don't. There's actually some truth to that statement. Street and Smith's knows that you need to get the product out early to make sales so they don't really...

Re: Street and Smith and Athlon

I've tried to maintain my tradition of buying a preseason college football magazine (usually Street and Smith's) but it's hard to find an excuse to do so. If you're an avid Redbird Football fan and you already read what Randy Reinhardt writes in the Pantagraph and on his twitter acct then you're not...

Re: Zenger out at Kansas

I could write a really long detailed post but I'm going to summarize this first part. I've had a good opportunity to see inside the athletic fundraising process of that orangy school down the road and I can tell you that even though the scale of the operation is different the process there is the sa...

Re: Zenger out at Kansas

If we're relating personal experiences with university fundraising I'll go way back in time to the first one I can remember. In the early 80's I was a recent grad and I got an invitation in the mail to attend a reception for Illinois State alumni at a nice hotel in downtown Springfield. It's a Wyndh...

Re: Zenger out at Kansas

Fair enough..... So, by the same token we shouldn't consider someone moving on from an Illinois State to (for example) Kansas, or Wake Forest as a measure of success or failure....correct? Get serious. Tons of people would like to become AD's. Most all the youngsters coming up in athletic administr...
