Re: roster changes

The more I think about Barry leaving the less I like it. He was ready to settle in at LB'er and I think he was poised to have a really good season. We'll never know. I really like the new coaching hires but it may be more than we can handle. On offense the new OC has already worked with our starting...

Re: Robinson better than Coprich? RB position looking good

A few years back we ran out of running backs. On multiple occasions, Coach Spack has said that will not happen again. So we allocate a few more resources to the running back position. Yes, I believe that was Darrelynn Dunn's senior year. He had to play banged up. We've been loading up on quality RB...

should have gone with this one

LOL you're right. But it does explain why Donewald never played him. No one could understand a damn thing he said.

Re: Defensive Coaching Changes

Another former Redbird. I'm glad that an Illinois State University background counts for something in the hiring process. If Stewart can coach the position as well as he played it we're in great shape.

Re: Robinson better than Coprich? RB position looking good

That said, I doubt Robinson will or would have 2 years like Coprich did, even if he didn't have to share reps with Smith. Robinson won't get the total # of yards Coprich did in '14 and '15. He'll share the load with Smith so that is part of the reason. But Coprich averaged 6.1 yards per carry in bo...

Robinson better than Coprich? RB position looking good

Robinson or Coprich? Robinson is definetly ahead if you compare his first two seasons vs. Coprich. Of course Coprich really took off as a junior with a better offensive line and another dynamic rushing threat at QB - Roberson. I think Robinson can maintain his lead. He won't have Roberson but I thin...

Re: Brian Anderson- New WR Coach

We also have an unconfirmed report that this guy is coming in the summer. http://iuhoosiers.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=8772

Big - has played football and basketball. He could play either WR or TE. The WR picture will change a half dozen times before Sept 1. Hopefully for the better.

Re: Brian Anderson- New WR Coach

agree on redshirt dynamic, and one or more WRs could emerge quickly. But given the clear gap after Schnell and Gibbs (reminder Gibbs was injured for a month) last season, I'm assuming Spack would have been very inclined to pull a RS if it could have helped the offense .. not to mention, sent a stro...

Re: Brian Anderson- New WR Coach

The fastest way for RBF.net to forget about you is to be redshirted. We brought in some good WR candidates last year (Patterson, Edgar, Price) and they sat out. Hadden from FAU got his feet wet with 6 catches and he may be be ready for much more. That foursome along with returning starter Schnell ha...

Re: New DC- Travis Niekamp

For the record, you missed a position change on Barry ... as true FR, he was WR, who later then turned to TE to DE to LB ... just love this guys track record .. reminds me of OL Liedtke who changed positions nearly every year .. and is now in NFL. But I like these guys a lot too: - Kelly-Martin (JR...

Re: New DC- Travis Niekamp

so given our great depth at LB I feel like we have 2 proven LB'ers. Horton deserved more than the Newcomer team. Barry finished the season strong. He's been moved around a lot (TE, DE, LB). I want to see what he can do at the Mike. He doesn't have the prototypical low center of gravity for a MIke (...

Re: New DC- Travis Niekamp

We're putting the band back together. I'm pleased that Coach Spack has been talking with former coaches Heacock and Berry. It's always tough to see coaches leave, especially Kane Kiernan because he's one of us - a Redbird. But on the flip side it opens the door for others that have been connected t...

Another Great Year for RBF.net

Another great year for Redbirdfan.net and of course that all starts at the top with the Site Administrator. The thing I've always enjoyed about RBF.net is that it lets know what fans are thinking. I got started with the first incarnation of this site in the late 90's. At that time I was living in Ur...

O’Day and Swaine are returning to play their final season. Their removal from the roster is a mistake.

roster changes

A review of the updated roster on GoRedbirds reveals that several names are missing. Prominent names among the non-returnees - RB Aritss Henderson, OT Donavin O'Day (I guess we know where Meggison will line up) and DL Matt Swaine / more.
