Re: National Signing Day 2018

I think he was really touting the Bussone kid from Normal as a potential impact this fall - he's talking about someone 6'2 300 lbs. who "explodes" and is his (Spack's) kind of nose tackle. I see on John Ridgeway's twitter acct where he now describes himself as a D-Lineman "IL state football player ...

Re: Elijah Smoot committed....

You know I've heard StL Cardinal announcer Mike Shannon refer to the Cardinals as the Redbirds many times (he's not alone) and no one questions that. If A-Cardinals equals B-Redbirds then doesn't B equal A?

Welcome to the Scarlet Flyers Elijah ;)

Did you see him wink about there might be another WR coming to this group. I'm hoping it's a transfer type person with some experience. Somebody that is really good...I think that's why he winked.

Re: National Signing Day 2018

Mike Gardner was the only player I had on our verbal commits list that committed before the early signing period but waited for the Feb signing period to sign. I figured he was lost but he came through. As you mentioned he had 3 known FBS offers. Maybe he was hoping for a P5 offer from a Texas schoo...

Re: National Signing Day 2018

We lose anyone from the early signing period? At all? The players that signed early are just as committed to the program as those that signed today. If players that signed early wanted out they would have to ask for their release. If you're asking if we had any players that verbally committed that ...

Re: National Signing Day 2018

Except there are still surprises. I didn't know we had a player coming from New Jersey. Nice also to see us giving some love to the walk-ons. Yup. When you look at the # of signees in this class you know that there are partial scholarships or maybe even walk-ons. We know from recent experience how ...

Signing Day Party

Illinois State University Athletics is hosting a Signing Day Party on Wednesday February 7, 2018 open to the public, from 6-7:30 PM that evening at the Hancock Stadium Club where the coaches will talk about the student-athletes who have signed to play with Redbird Football. If you're like me and can...

Re: O-Line thoughts

bird bud 5 - You're the 2nd person recently to tell me that a healthy Jared Rients will make a real difference for the O-Line next season so I'm looking forward to that. Overall the depth on the Offense is good. Other than Schnell at the slot we should have backups ready that can approximate what th...

Re: The List so far 2018

Mad - Totally agree, great get. You'll never have to sell me on the idea of recruiting Wisconsin talent especially the All-Staters. Dinga, Mueller and Halusan. I'd like to have a half dozen more.

O-Line thoughts

Most of us saw this coming. In 2017 Chad Kanugh was our only returning starter on the O-Line and the offense generally struggled in scrimmages in the spring and August camps. It was hoped that the inexperienced offensive line would improve as the season progessed and it probably did but our final 3 ...

Re: Transfer - LB Paul Engram

does this mean he began his career at Western Michigan or does it mean he was a STARTING player at Western Michigan? not trying to be a smart-a$$. either way. good sounding player. Fair question. I'm not finding any stats for him at WMU so I believe he began his career at WMU but he was not a start...

Re: Brian Anderson- New WR Coach

I hope he completes his classes and makes it here. Even if he doesn't complete his classes and enroll as a graduate student, wouldn't he be eligible for stepping down a division? It sounds more like he needs to bring up his gpa to gain admittance whether it's at the grad level or undergrad as noted...

Re: Brian Anderson- New WR Coach

Missed this earlier .. but this guys is a TE for sure. I wouldn't say TE for sure. 1- He had trouble keeping up TE weight at Indiana. 2 - Someome named Hereiam identified him as a WR on the Recruiting forum. Maybe Fuchs himself? "Jordan Fuchs 6 ft 6 235 wr. Coming in summer Graduate student" I hope...

Re: roster changes

The more I think about Barry leaving the less I like it. He was ready to settle in at LB'er and I think he was poised to have a really good season. We'll never know. I really like the new coaching hires but it may be more than we can handle. On offense the new OC has already worked with our starting...

Re: Robinson better than Coprich? RB position looking good

A few years back we ran out of running backs. On multiple occasions, Coach Spack has said that will not happen again. So we allocate a few more resources to the running back position. Yes, I believe that was Darrelynn Dunn's senior year. He had to play banged up. We've been loading up on quality RB...
