Re: Spring Practice is Here, Spack Comments

So, he's impressed with the O-line, but moved two guys over there?? We've lost seven O-Linemen since last season. G - Kanugh who started most of last season and T - O'Day another starter. Also not returning for various reasons Mikkelson, Baker, Ames, Starforth and Buffalomeat. That's a fairly big h...

Re: Two Deep Offense

Spring practice begins in just two days (17th). Serious football fans will want to check out THE REAL two-deep on GoRedbirds for the beginning of spring. https://s3.amazonaws.com/sidearm.sites/goredbirds.com/documents/2019/3/14/19_Spring_Camp_Notes.pdf It always interesting to see what I got right a...

Re: OT: Former Players

"Harris has been told by the Broncos they will use a restricted free-agent tender on him, Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic reports. The move will give Harris a salary of $3.095 million for the 2019 season, unless he finds a new contract elsewhere. He is free to sign with any team, but Denver will hold...

Re: Jack Kelly MISSING

I'm glad that Jack Kelly is safe and well and I'm glad that he was willing to share some of his story with us. He did owe his family and the police an explanation but it wasn't something he was required to share with the general public but again I'm glad he did. Let's face it we all had - "what was ...

Re: Two Deep Offense

He needs to get his completion pct above 60 and use his running ability more. What I did like about him was his moxy, and how he didn't turn the ball over too much. Being here for spring ball will help him I think. :text-+1: I would use Clemson's Trevor Lawrence and his performance against 'Bama as...

Re: BETTER

Which recruit sticks out for you? I watched some of the videos. The RB from Missouri looked like a good find. I wonder if he'll stay at RB. Seems like he should. Yeah Mueller looks like a prime recruit but I've about given up trying to predict. We've seen walkons go on to the NFL and 3 star studs w...

I was just looking through and comparing what we have in the 2019 thread and there are several letters not in yet.

The List so Far 2019 is updated. Remember it contains names from the first signing period in December and the one today.

Re: Birds add RB from Georgia

Right, he's about 6'3 200 but since he plays basketball he hasn't been able to devote full-time to developing his body for football. With room to build on that frame I could see him getting up around 225lbs. and being an effective combination of power and speed.

Re: Roster changes

So here's the deal on Harris. IMO Harris is a 4-3 DE. He is a 9 technique get up the field DE. He was playing out of position last year. He is certainly not a 3-4 DE. He is also not a 3-4 Jack. He is not a " jack of all trades". Pass drop and coverage are not his forte, I agree that pass drop cover...

Re: New WR Coach

Anyway, one thing I remember was that Spack gave Anderson some points for getting E.St.Louis WR Eric Rogers to come to ISU last year, and on paper he looked like a good get (6'4 guy, state champion), but he never really contributed as a freshman. Wonder if he stays at all, and if so, if he finds hi...

I really like Solomon from Illinois -he will be an immediate player - great get
:text-+1: Solid addition that fits well with what we want to do offensively.

Re: The List so far 2019

Most come in as OL labeled so that's a concern. A transfer OT would satisfy immediate needs but we need O-Linemen for the future. We didn't recruit the O-Line well enough in 2013-14 and it came back to haunt us in '16-17.

Re: The List so far 2019

I'll go ahead and add Okolo again for 2019 even though he committed in 2018 and he is on that list. Okolo was grayshirted and he's already listed as a student. There are a lot of different ways you can approach this list but it starts as a Verbal Commitment List. A player stays on until he de-commit...

Re: Roster changes

I wouldn't be surprised to see one of Megginson's old teammates/friends from Illinois transfer in on the OL.

Two of them have declared as transfers -Adam Solomon and Zeke Martin with Solomon being the more likely of the two.

If we're looking at remaining FBS transfers: WR and OL help. It sounds like we're in the mix for both but need them to actually materialize on campus.
Yes awaiting materialization ;)
