Re: NAU Game (9/21/19)

Considering our passing game, if we get behind, we're screwed.

Get the lead early and run, run, run...

Illinois State -10.5
Saw that, too. That’s crazy.

Hate to say it but the bet here has to be NAU. Right?

Re: Eastern

In a game like this, where you’re carving them up on the ground, you would think the play-action would be a gimme....and an easy way to pass Davis’ stats (and build confidence).
Didn’t see the game, but was that type of play calling non existent?

Davis just can’t multitask. If he is planning on throwing the ball he stares down his receiver. If he is getting rushed he no longer looks down field. He’s got the classic tunnel vision which is a really bad trait of a QB.
Pretty bad advertising for the Manning passing camp...

Re: NIU game thread

Brutal to watch easy to fix. Maybe. You throw a football with your feet. If your feet are right everything else follows. There were two problems I saw. His wrist fires early and the ball sails when he throws off his back foot. The ball goes low when he doesn't fully extend his arm because he's not ...

Re: NIU game thread

If any fan base has a right to be fair weather it’s Illinois State’s. If the university isn’t going to be serious about reaching their potential in athletics, you can’t really expect folks to be that emotionally invested in your program/dept. it’s a shame because it doesn’t have to be this way. Giv...

I have completely tempered my expectations. Almost to the point of apathy.

REEK OH I know your standing behind that tree peeing on your self, but there is a forest out there. IT impacts ISU athletes. and they donate. Nothing wrong with the donation. Good for them. I have no problem if people want to donate to the other sports. However, lets not kid ourselves that ISU bask...

Re: Non-conference thoughts

At any rate, the schedule is fine, but at this point I think the ISU home games crowd sizes will be mainly local. There’s decreasing reasons to drive down from Chicago to see home games. They just don’t lead to anything. Agreed, I think a lot of folks are going to stop emotionally investing in an a...

Re: 2019-20 Expectations

As to Fisher, I mean we haven't seen him play D1 for the birds yet, though from everything I hear he is a guy who goes 100% all the time regardless of how he is playing, and will expect his teammates to do the same thing. I don't know about you, but I'd love to play along side guys like that. Those...

Re: 2019-20 Expectations

I get that this is an expectations thread, but at the end of the day this season will be a success or failure based on what this team does in St. Louis between March 5-8. They won't be good enough for an at-large bid so it comes down to winning 3 to 4 games at the end of the year. Different players...

Re: 2019-20 Expectations

This whole concept that we didn’t “play hard” last season and that this years’ team is “buying in”, is a joke. This is D1 basketball, all of these kids have high motors. To be honest, I can’t say I’ve ever seen a Redbird team that dogs it up and down the court, no team at this level does. Either thi...

Love this idea. A total win-win for the people of Kentucky.
I proposed a similar schedule for NCAA football that would require a complete conference alignment.

Re: 2019-20 Expectations

We will be better than last year's team. We lose Milik's scoring but also his turnovers. We lose Key's shot attempts and gain point guards that can pass and that have size defensively. We lose Fayne's offense but also his defense. Ever notice Milik had to guard the other teams big? We lose Tinsley'...

Re: 2019-20 Expectations

I do think our non-con is a bit of a yawner, but I get that it can be hard to schedule home and homes against top level programs. That said, I’d rather throw our team every year to the wolves with a Texas Southern style of schedule. Either that or go completely milquetoast (ala Jank). This in betwee...

Re: Open Scrimmage

I know I mentioned in my original long post that I would start Reeves over Cope- and using the small sample size of that practice its a legit thought. Reeves was burning the nets with Fisher as the top 2 shooters. However, that would be one of the biggest early surprises of the year if Cope and Cha...
